Lovely photos, Della. I'll have to remind you next year! This one I can think of a few I'd try crossing it with:

That last one almost has pink backs! Yes: "Ooooh! says it all.

But gosh, so many nice ones. I think my favorite(?) here is this one:
Thumb of 2020-01-30/dellac/863059
The dark heart, the soft flares on a pure white background, the nice orange picotee on the three sepals, the complimenting dark markings that don't overpower, the uniform and graceful flower form, the orange tepal tips ... it all seems to fit together.

I'd say the color on this one is pretty rare in an aurelian... yes? Reminds me of some of the North asiatic lankongense hybrids. What a charmer.
Thumb of 2020-01-30/dellac/fa67fd

It's very clear you've been honing your photography skills. The shots are incredibly pleasing, and you are absolutely right that everything need not be in focus. Much better this way. I can see from the backgrounds that had you increased the depth of focus, the photos would have become very cluttered and busy. I think I need to lean more in this direction with more of my photos. Great examples!

This has a lot of potential. I tried a cross this year using this one as pod parent:

Thumb of 2020-01-31/dellac/7e6cf3

and pollen from anything I could find with a hint of paler tepal centres. You're right, Rick, I think it is unusual to have the paler colour (yellow tones) central and orange to the edges. I'd encourage Anthony to make the most of that seedling showing the trait so strongly. Aurelians are so exciting! nodding

The OT does have red-backed buds. I really like it. This is the same flower taken a day earlier, the green is stronger:

Thumb of 2020-01-31/dellac/fac7e2

I'm glad you like the pics, Rick. I keep working on the photography, it's nice to know that it's showing results. Thank you. Smiling

Nice choice, Joshua. First flower, so I don't know how the plant will grow out, but the bloom has good substance and stood up to today's awful hot winds much better than most.

And now, just for something dramatically different, 'Shiraz', a Neil Jordan oriental. It's the only oriental bloom I'll see this year... except for less than a handful of speciosum buds, wildlife have eaten all my Div. 7. Sighing!

Beautiful, Joshua. We had strong, hot winds that battered many of the lilies. Hemerocallis flowers were melting off their stems! Is that an Opuntia next door? 42C is Opuntia weather!

Thanks Della. There was some damage today from the heat, but thankfully the wind wasn't too strong. Tomorrow could be worse, though, as storms with damaging winds and hail have been forecast.

That is an Opuntia next door and I am not a fan of its presence against the fence line. I have to prune it back regularly to stop it dropping fruit on my side of the fence. These things are nasty - the pads are made of heaps of tiny spikes, so care is required.

Hate those glochids. That's why the only opuntia I grow is O. fragilis. Normal grabby thorns, but no glochids. This one is a tiny native clone I found in wild western Minnesota. it's in a 3.25in.(8.3cm) pot.

Rosthornii makes nice babies. Thumbs up

A new word! I'd never hear of "glochids", but now I'm seriously rethinking my idea of growing Opuntia at my new place, as a fruiting plant that the wildlife won't eat! Somehow I don't think a feed of prickly pear is worth the risk of being glochid-ed! Hilarious! The little species looks nice though.

Interesting, Anthony - it looks like it has regular spots plus tango markings. Plus unusual colouration. I will be interested to see how this one matures.

Hello everyone! Smiling
I am from Croatia and I have been addicted to lilies for the last 4, 5 years. From the 1st day i used this forum to learn everything about lilies from you and now, after some experience, i am proud and happy to be here with you.
My lily collection is not so big like yours (because my garden is not so big) but i hope i will contribute with some pictures in 3-4 months. Lily pictures from this site helped me a lot because you can see real colors and forms of some hybrids in the garden.
My favourites: div. VIII (OTs) and div. IX.
