I think growing them in my greenhouse last year made a huge difference. They stayed much warmer at night then they would have outside. My plan is to devote all the space I can in the greenhouse this season to just peppers after I move the other plants outside around mid-late May.

I was thinking of buying a The Affordable Hobby Greenhouse from Growers Solution (10x12) for more greenhouse room. It sells for $599, but I could get 10% off, but they want $430 to ship it!

I'm going to keep looking.

That seems like a lot for shipping. Keep looking and maybe you can get it for far less shipping charges. Good luck.

Peppers do love the heat.

Depending on the type of pepper, and the eventual size, try growing some in pots of various sizes - in full sun. My Hungarian Wax was just grown in the pot as I purchased it and did quite well.

It was living on a bench indoors for winter and finally looked dead but I continued watering and in February it sprouted new growth. Keep the faith.

All my peppers were grown above ground in elevated garden beds and pots last year, and did so well.

I've seen that Harbor Freight greenhouse before. It gets good comments from folks, but right now I am leaning towards an 8 x 12 Weatherguard™ Hoop house as a one year "experiment" to see how well other vegetables do in a greenhouse grown up off the ground.

If I have good results, I will then look for something larger and more permanent. I would love to get one of those growing domes, but the size I want runs almost $15,000 before installation.
Thumb of 2020-01-12/MoonShadows/e8b94b

I am thinking of a professional hoop house from a company called Tunnel Vision. A friend of mine has one where she grows herbs and flowers for her store. I could probably do one of these for 1/3 the price, or less, of a growing dome, and get the same size.

The rest of my seeds came in from Johnny's Seeds the other day, so I have that covered.
Ace Bell Peppers
Mountain Magic Tomatoes
Carmen Sweet Peppers

I'll wait until my next round of cabin fever to go buy my jiffy pots and seed mix. I try to space these things out. Keeps me believing winter won't last forever.

I'm also looking at rearranging my present greenhouse again. I want to have more flexibility in the layout, so I am looking at the Dura-Bench Plastic Benchtop panels at Greenhouse Megastore (and they don't charge shipping for these!). They are 2' x 4' and I can just lay or mount them right on top of simple wood frames and then adjust heights of my tables by adding/removing cinder blocks depending on my needs.

They are durable, smooth, non-porous and allows trays, flats, and pots to slide across the surface without snagging. The interlocking panels will not rot, crack, splinter, or corrode, and they do harbor nasty organisms and are easy to disinfect.

They look great Jim. You greenhouse will be extra spiffy!!

I also ordered seed for Carmen Peppers this year. These will be new for me as I never tried then before. I think I will really like them as they seem to get good reviews. So we will see.

Yes, I read many good reviews on them. I'm looking for one other sweet pepper, but I haven't made up my mind just yet. Any suggestions from our resident pepper guru?

Well, I am going to be trying many new to me varieties. Jimmy Nardello because that also getsw get reviews. And then some of the Nu Mex varieties from University of New Mexico. So we will see what I can recommend after the season.

Depends on what you are looking for. Right now I would also recommend Lola Sweet Banana Peppers as awesome producers of nice eating and cooking peppers that are big enough to stuff. If you would rather go the Asian Peppers route there is a fabulous one called Fushimi. Longer and skinnier than Shishito without the wrinkles. Just as crazy productive. Slightly different taste but also great roasted, charred or stir fried.

Well, I just ordered a packet of Fushimi peppers and a packet of Golden Greek Pepperoncini. I think that brings me up to 5 varieties of peppers and 20+ packets of seed so far and it's not even January 15th. I'm going to have to start attending S.A. meetings. And, I said I was going to cut down this year! Blinking

The heck with cutting back!! I can never manage. Hilarious!

If the Golden Greek Pepperoncini are the peppers in Greek Salad (which is what I think they are) then they have some heat and kick to them.

I think that any of us that love the Shishitos will also love the Fushimi peppers. I sure do. My seeds of Fushimi did not come up last year and I really missed them.

Will be ordering from Evergreen seeds or Kitazawa Seeds soon.

Go Jim, trying lots of new varieties.
