Jo Ann -- so glad you have help...

Cinta, I love the various containers you have potted with your succulents.

I especially like the nativity. I wonder if I still have one that was shaped like that.

It was with all the rest of my Christmas stuff, some of which is labeled to be sent to Goodwill.

Maybe I should go through that box again. Hilarious!

Marilyn, you have set up a very nice sitting area. I love it. I take back your container semp growing. You have good size pots. I have seen people put them in small pots and think they will be happy. I think you have a good size round pots that are good to grow your semps as long as you want in them.

I always wanted to have the room to plant as much of every plant I wanted so I needed a lot of land so I went in search for property that had acres of land. I was not counting on fighting deer, rabbits, hares, squirrels, racoons, groundhogs, a bear or two. Rolling on the floor laughing So caring for the plants and lots of gardens even at my old age is not hard. My hardest job is fighting critters.

I have a small tractor that I can haul stuff around the property and cut the grass. In the winter I hook the shovel on the front and shovel the walkway and driveway.

I have never had the energy to do yard work. I worked in a sedentary job and I have always had pretty sedentary hobbies.

I did a little spring annual plantings to give my area color but never went very far with it,

just brought them home and plopped them in a planter, amending the soil a bit, water and fertilizer occasionally. Rolling on the floor laughing

Now I hover over my new collections, have lost many due to heat and sun this summer, but continue to try.

This site and my dear SIL, Valleylynn, have been my inspiration.

I do so admire your ability to keep up with all that place, I know I could not, but I do enjoy everything you share about yours Smiling

Keep on posting your wonderful pictures and I will keep on drooling Drooling

Wow Cinta, you have found wonderful ways to handle all that garden area.
I'm afraid I am slowing down and having trouble keeping up with just under 1/2 acre. Wonder how long it will be before I am gardening like my SIL, Marilyn?
Her patio and other garden areas are wonderful. She puts a lot of thought and work into it.

I was asking about the cactus because I was bringing in a huge box and broke two pads off my cactus and was wondering if you might want them. I do not know which color they are but if you want to add hardy cactus to your rock garden I could put them in an envelope for you.

It could be this color
Thumb of 2012-08-31/Cinta/900af1

or this color. They bloom in June.

I cannot tell which ones were broken. They were just in the driveway. You just put them in the rock garden and they will take off.

I would love to try a cactus in the rock garden. I love them both but my favorite would be the yellow.

Now I have to explore care and feeding of cactus. I have one tiny one and have killed a couple of others.

I ill send you a tree mail with my address, and will re-imburse postage and mailing of course.

Thank you, thank you thank you I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

No need for postage I will put them in an envelope it does not cost much at all.

These things are super easy you stick the tip in the dirt and they take care of themselves. The only thing you have to be careful to not touch them with your bare hands. Those stickers hurt. You could even put them in your pot as long as you leave them outside all winter. They do not need any fertilizer babying or even water they just do not care. They are desert weeds.

I picked up so many one mans weeds when I was on business trips. I would be on business trips and go out at lunch time and pick the plants out of the garbage. Can you imagine a woman in her high heels and silk suit dumpster diving. Rolling on the floor laughing We pay big money for tropical plants and they pull them up and throw them in the garbage because they grow so fast and thick.

I picked this up in Puerto Rico wrapped it in my lunch napkin put it in my makeup case to come home with me.

That is lovely, You made quite a find there. OK Lynn fes up... do you dumpster dive for plants? Do you have a bumper sticker that says "I brake for plants"?

I have never dumpster dived for plants but maybe that is an idea.....

let me tell you I am having trouble visiting the Botanical gardens, trying to keep my hands off the seed pods,

then there was the stone mania I went through, lusting after the stones in the medians of the street.

At least you re-purposed trash. They call that recyling, don't they. Green living...

Wow, Jo Ann your containers are still looking beautiful and colorful.

My one and only coleus container this year. I tried two new ones, C. 'Katie and C. 'Big Red Judy'. Loved them both.
