I would think it would be flood insurance. Climate change and rising water levels. As I recall the highs land point in Lee County is only 16' above sea level and most is a lot lower than that.

She is in plantation fla.
that coast quite a bit higher
She has no flood.
Her ins this year went up by $800

Hurricane coverage is a killer in FL. I was there during Hurricane Donna. Lots of devastation then and the population density is much higher now.

Every single year it goes up... .i told her to move. She won't do it ..her taxes for less coverage s double mine easily...her auto insurance forget it. Two cars..no tickets or accident..

I have three vehicles and a motorhome xx her auto insurance more than double mine

I don't know how she can squeeze a penny any tighter on a fixed income

I lived in upstate NY for several years. Owned property on Lake Ontario. Taxes were outrageous.

And the closer to the city you get they just keep going up. I live in the North Western part of the state where taxes are cheaper then Eastern NJ. and people from other states I know are shocked how high my taxes are. What gets to them more when they visit is the cost of housing. I showed them what is a million dollar house here and they were saying in Georgia it would be a 250,000 house at most. Another friend from Ohio was here and said my house would go for around 40,000 in their area and I showed them that a piece of land less then 1/2 acre around here cost more then that. And a house smaller then mine just sold for 275,000.

West of there in Sussex county more of a country area that most do not know exist in NJ. It is part of the Appalachian Mountains the trail is just down the road. We are surrounded by state park and watershed areas . Overall a nice place to live but can get pretty expensive.

That's crazy! Another reason why I like MA. Lots of small towns, great prices, decent access to main highways and freeways so you can get to cultural areas easily...

NY is known for crazy taxation.

Course, there's nothing like NY City when it comes to culture. But man! Rosie sure made FL sound great!

Yeah, but the highway/freeway system itself sucks. Ask me how I know. For starters, I've driven thousands of miles on MA's highways, in both a POV and commercial vehicle.

Maybe for a truck driver, but not for a music teacher. No commercial vehicle here, and the single or double-lane highway is fine. I tell people that if I can see 5 or more cars when I'm on route 2, that's traffic.

Out my way (central MA), route 2 was recently built (completed in 2016), while route 2A still exists for a more scenic route. As you get into areas that are more densely populated, there are substantially more lanes.

In this, where it lists the Mohawk Trail, that's where I live!

I love this area.

Joanna, I was speaking mostly about the interstate highways. The I90 eastbound-I290 northbound interchange is a nightmare with the left lane merge onto I290, during rush hour. I290 northbound onto I495 northbound has a very short and totally blind acceleration/merge lane, I don't care what you're driving. I could go on and on but there are better places to discuss it. Back to the main topic... Smiling .

Well, thank G-d, I don't have to deal with it. But I do take my hat off I tip my hat to you. to all truck drivers, past, present and future, who keep our country running no matter what. I've always held them in high respect and always will. I feel gratitude toward them whenever we have big storms, and I feel it now too. Thank You! for all you've done over the years. Lovey dubby

The Garden Don't Care

The garden don't care
'bout this COV-nineteen scare,
daffs and tulips showing up everywhere.
They mock our concern as their flowers prepare
to simply confirm that
the garden don't care.
