@MissingRosie, Rosie what part of Florida do y'all spend the winters in? We've talked about purchasing an RV but keep going back and forth on whether it's a good idea for us or not. I'm not a good vehicle traveler anymore, interstate traffic makes me very nervous and I drive hubby crazy. The main reason I think it would be a good idea for one is during hurricane season, we could pack up, take the dogs and leave for a couple of months if necessary!!

What a kind thing to bake a cake for your neighbors birthday! What kind of cake? I'd love if you'd share the recipe!

@Calif_Sue, What a great quilt for your friends new baby boy, I know they will love it!

@joannakat, thanks for the link to that upcoming documentary, I'm going to try to find time later today to watch it!

@bubs, Jared, Yep ... lots of people missing their sports this season! My husband and I really love college basketball and of course the NCAA March Madness was canceled so we sometimes watch reruns of older seasons.

@LolaTasmania, Lola, so glad your brother is there to be of help around your farm since you are unable to do the work. How nice that he is a greenskeeper, your place will no doubt look fabulous under his care!

Well, time for me to head outside and get busy. I hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Lin. We are in a RV park called Gulf View
It is in SW Florida. In a small town called Punta Gorda.. up the road from fort Meyers Sanibel..Captiva.. Naples .. it takes me about two hours to reach my sis in Fort Lauderdale
Lots of retirees ,. Great downtown.. every single weekend and on weekend days.. farmers markets..music, craft, festivals.. decent arts community.. plays.. all kinds of sports for us old folks.. golf, pickle ball, tournaments, fishing, kayaking bicycling

In the park.. there is something daily ( not now with virus) music.. dinners, aerobics, bike, golf, cards, PARADEs, there isn't any wife swapping like other areas I have read about.. everybody pretty much is stuck with what they married, You can rent the spot monthly or yearly or in between. There are park models as well as towing RV and Driving RV,. a nice group./ mix

Typical snowbird demographics. The resort does chip in for dinners and some activities, parties.. so those are free.. other things we pay for if interested..like the lobster dinner.. or bingo pots. For storage... Some of our neighbors move the RV OFF into a private protected commercial storage.. climate controlled ..that will be a few hundred a month.. others drive or pull back home .. some rent outdoor spots -no electric no climate control 75-100 a month ish.

One park will let you leave your RV plugged in ..and visit it "off season" for 4 days a month and I think that is 275 a month. that's for folks who don't want to pay an annual monthly fee and yet want some access so no storage. So lots of options. We do not haul. I did not want to buy another pickup we have one that's 20 years old in NC and we haul our landscape debris and take it to home depot if we buy lumber, etc. ,.. a yard dog as they say, but to buy a truck to haul.. that's a big truck and big $$ and they don't get a lot of MPG..and like you we are not comfortable hauling .. that's a lotta weight and a lot of steel we are not experienced.
So we pay a dollar a mile ..the hauler carries the liability if in accident .. we only moved it once from Ocala / Williston to here $400 bucks plus a tip . Now we leave it here in Punta Gorda all year. If we find another area we want to explore. then we will move it. We come down for 4=6/months depending on desire. Nice and safe place to " live" . If a hurricane comes we can hire the resort to have it put in protected storage. Most leave it in place. We had a deck put on ..that's strapped down Water is free. Cable is free as is WiFi. Electric for our 38 foot towable is about $60 a month rent is 570 a month because we are on concrete ..grass is less . That's all I can think of. It's not the least expensive park nor the most .. we are actually paying for the area. We can walk to Publix, Walmart, Home Depot and a wonderful, downtown is 4 min away. Neighboring towns have great downtowns too . There is a 4 month wait list formGulf View. Some leave their golf carts here. We have none. We sometimes take our 24 foot drive able class B.. we have been exploring NC towns and Virginia for several years in that. And so, we can use this towable as a base and we can go up to panhandle and camp for a long weekend..or the keys etc. .. it gets 21 mpg so affordable

The cake. I will tree mail you the recipe as I fear I took up too much space here ... but RVing is what we are doing in quarantine! But we didn't plan it! And the virus controls here are strict . Pool closed. Club house closed. shuffleboard, bocce all cancelled . I have seen gatherings usually less than 10 where there is a cook out. We wave! I only have inside photo of RV. I will tree mail you the outside if I find some

Rosie, wow ... beautiful RV and a great location; Punta Gorda is a really pretty area of the state! I've been in Florida for 53 years and my husband has been here since before he was a year old so he's been here almost 71 years. If we ever do decide to go RVing, it will be AWAY from Florida. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing and we'd likely get a motor home type that he could drive. He has a large pickup truck and he's hauled large boats and motorcycle trailers over the years but I'd prefer something where I don't have to get out of the truck and have to walk back to get into the motor home. It would be nice to have something large enough for us and our two big pups but the expense to store it would make me think twice; I hate the thought of paying to store something we'd only use a couple of months during the summer but we're still contemplating it. I'd love to be able to spend a couple of months a year in East Tennessee, I love the Smoky Mountains!

Mac. Mac,.. Mac.. I know and the iPad changes it.. and so... I conceded
Lin.. we thought when we were done with the west side of Florida ( I lived on the east ) we might try the Georgia mountains. I hope we have enough healthy years

We have a piece of property in valle crucis... we bought it years ago.. finally paid it off but then the two kids went to college one after the other and me at various times in between and so we never had the $$ to build anything on it. It is a beautiful area ..near Boone .. worth your time .. blowing rock too .. and of course everyone knows Asheville

Rosie, the North Georgia mountains are really gorgeous too! We once stayed in the Blue Ridge, Georgia area, it's very pretty country up that way. LOL, I'd never heard of Valle Crucis, N.C. so I had to google, looks like my kinda place! We've visited Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard, N.C. in the past too ... lovely area of the country!

We got the same LOUD alert on our phones ... one of the dogs was so spooked until I could get into the kitchen where my phone was and turn it off.

Beautiful shots of Manasota Beach! I love the gulf side of the state. We used to vacation every year on either Longboat Key or Anna Maria Island.

I would think it would be flood insurance. Climate change and rising water levels. As I recall the highs land point in Lee County is only 16' above sea level and most is a lot lower than that.

Hey y'all, you can turn that ear shattering alarm noise off. I thought I would have a heart attack first time I heard that thing. I turned it OFF. I still get the alerts but not the noise from hell.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
