Oh Cal, they look great! Talk about comfort food, but I would be afraid of making them. I would probably eat the whole batch at one sitting! Sticking tongue out

Here's a few funnies for this morning:

Jmorth, I love your daffodils. I have many flowers I call my favorites, but springtime Has the best flowers, like the daffodils, and the so fragrant hyacinths.

I'm cuddling with my cat, Tigger a lot more than I already do. As long as I have my beautiful boy with me, that's all the happiness I need.

Pam, I thought daffies would grow or bloom almost anywhere. Confused
We're in 10a, so thought 8b should be even better(?).

Jack, did you "force" those yellow & orange daffodils?
Any tips for us?

Regarding daffodils (in the south):
You could always buy some daffodils and give them a cool period in refrig, then plant outside or force. or,
Order pre-cooled bulbs from Brent and Becky's - they've 39 different bulbs to pick from...page 80 (of 82) in their current catalog.
https://www.brentandbeckysbulb...
https://www.brentandbeckysbulb...
If you scroll down this listing it indicates which varieties are pre-cooled.
This only works if the bulbs received are planted outside immediately upon receipt.

The ones I've shared above were mostly outside. They were originally forced then planted outside. They've been blooming outside for years now.

Some spring bulbs from outside today -

Cal, there should be no reason you can't grow daylilies! Just stay away from dormants, stick to evergreens.

And Sue knows. I counted up, and with the season in full swing it appears I have a about 60 more still coming, I could slap myself. Sue taught me a long time ago you can line them up in a trench of peat and buy yourself some planting time.

https://dickpritchettrealestat... This is what Ive been focused on the last couple of days, took the little puff ball two days to get out of that egg. Looks like sibling on its way. These poor eagles lost their first clutch, one didnt hatch and the other was fed rat that had been poisened and it made the eagle bleed to death. Darned if harriet and M15 didnt get busy and now the result. So happy for them, usually they are fledging by this time so I hope the babies do well this late.

Pam, I've been watching the SW Fla. Eaglecam too ... baby finally completed hatching at 5:30 this morning and what a cute fluff ball of an Eaglet! I'm hoping for good results for Egg #4 in the coming days and praying that both eaglets make it to adulthood! A number of years ago, if I'm recalling correctly, a larger sibling that had hatched quite awhile before the other, killed the smaller one and I think I remember (but again, I'm not sure it was this nest site) one of the young eaglets lost it's life when it fell to the ground. Mama will continue to make the nest bowl deeper as those babies grow but sometimes parents can't totally protect their young. Hopefully this season, we'll get to see two eaglets grow and mature; it's always fun to see them testing their wings and take that first flight! Lovey dubby

Well, I thought it would be a slam-dunk, since I see them in beds at
parking lots around town, with little attention. Rolling my eyes.

I gave them water, sun, & soil, and though they hung in for 6 mo, eventually petered out. Sad
I didn't see them get eaten by gophers or rabbits. They grew a bit, but just didn't thrive.

Didn't know there are "dormants" & "evergreens". Blinking

We do have a few in a different spot that are doing OK, so may just divide them
later this year & try again. Smiling

Oh my goodness, NOOOO!!! Way too pricey!!!! Thumbs down

Have you seen the Classifieds forum here, several of our members who are avid daylily fans are dividing their plants, great prices and they can most likely offer suggestions for good evergreens.

And they send great pants too. Just got back from lowes, they had racks and racks of clearance plants, usually just one rack. I filled the back of car. Was headed to sams, but after driving by 230 people in line, I headed straight to lowes.
