Things are looking better Larry.

This was the second seedling I chose last fall to look at again, it bloomed yesterday 4/7/2020 which is really early even for here. This may be the new normal because of no winter here.

I had several new blooms to open in the seedling beds this morning.
These first three are the first 2017 seedlings this year to bloom. I did not even look up the crosses. I have three beds of 2017 seedlings and that year the critters just dug up labels and scattered plants and made a mess of everything in those three beds. So even though I did record the locations, I did not have the locations in my PlantStep program, so unless something in those three beds really stands out I don't plant to go to the trouble of finding the cross. Even as poor as the blooms are, they do add to the garden when I walk down in the morning.

Now here is the bloom this morning on my best seedling ever so far. 'Collard Dream' x 'Fire on the Mountain'. A pretty bloom, with a nice tall scape with good branching and bud count.

I found this bloom very interesting, it was an odd color the camera could not capture and it appealed to me in a strange way.

I had quite a few other seedlings blooming but they were mostly just yellows with no outstanding features so far.

Gosh, the seedling are looking so good. Very good to see them.

I received some 'Tom and Doug' seeds and planted those early last year. Those seedlings are coming up now again. Not sure if it was a self cross or what but I have 19 fans coming up. I am hoping a couple will produce something this year.

Some seedlings blooming this morning:
This little seedling in bed ten was just blooming away, no idea what it is.
Thumb of 2020-04-09/Seedfork/2cb219
Some more I found no marker for. The red looked nice but the plant and scape were not impressive. The yellow looked like a lot of other yellows, but bright and showy for sure.
Thumb of 2020-04-09/Seedfork/f0ec69
Here are some more that were blooming, I might have to look up some tags if some of them continue to improve.

Well, this seedling is not very impressive to look at, but it is the first to bloom of my 2019 seedlings. The seeds were planted on Aug. 28th 2019, so I am pleased to be seeing the first blooms, no matter what it looks like. I was hoping the cross 'Heart's Treasure' x 'Wonder of it All' would take on some of the traits of WOIA, but it seems to almost be a twin of HT.

Larry, your yellow seedling looks like it has good substance, which I think is a highly desirable quality!

Fred, I'm so glad to see you've gotten a seedling from using PATTERNED PILLAR as a pod parent. I haven't had much luck with it yet as a pod parent, and absolutely no luck with using its pollen -- which is very pale. It's such a beautiful patterned daylily, and I think I see on your seedling that the pollen also appears pale. So hopefully you could let us know later whether you've had any luck with using that beautiful seedling in crosses -- I think it's a real wowser -- love those pinks!

Nice seedlings Larry.
Betty if I remember the pollen on Patterned Pillar is sterile, I never noticed the pollen on the seedling even though I put pollen on it. Will keep an eye on it.
Crazy weather here, went from the 70s at night to the 40s.
