Hey, whaddya mean "even" a volunteer? We volunteers give our time because we know how valuable it is, and how important our message is, not because we have nothing else to do.

We deserve enormous respect! That's really too bad they stood you up, but it's their loss not to hear you speak.

Now that was just bad form on their part! Not a nice way to be treated like that.

My Cymbidium Amazing 'Marlow Orchids' usually blooms in the middle of Summer for me. This was a nice surprise now in September.

Mm, love that Ceratostylis, Ursula. The plant looks like a piece of modern art.

I wonder if that Cym might be a good one for Florida since it blooms in summer for you?

It won't hurt to try. This one is Cym ensifolium x erysthrostylum. The ensifolium parent is responsible for being warmth tolerant.

That is a beautiful Cym, Ursula. Perhaps Elaine will do the research and we can both get one. I also like the Ceratostylis. Great show.

Looking out in the OC, I found Bollopetalum Midnight Blue 'Cardinal's Roost' is beginning to bloom. I hope you like the photos.

Now that you mentioned it, I am back on for a radio interview tomorrow. It's a different station and it will be via telephone but still in Spanish and still at 9:30 AM. The station is AM1300 for those of you in the Tampa area. I did get an apology for the "mix-up" from the county but I still don't know what happened. The Extension agent was furious.

Somebody at that radio station dropped the ball, for sure! You'll be great tomorrow, Jim. Easy gig - I've been at my nearby elementary school all week, helping the kids plant their new vegetable garden. Three more classes tomorrow, for a total of 15 MG hours served this week. Try getting a word in edgewise with 15 kindergarteners all excited about digging in the dirt. Phew!!

Love that Bollopetalum - mine did finally die. It was far from robust to begin with, truth be told.

Blooming today out in the OC is the Brassavola nodosa that I bought a few months ago to mount on a nice piece of drift wood. She has rewarded me well.

In order to take the nodosa picture I had to walk by this NOID Dendrobium that was begging to have its picture taken.

I finally had a radio interview today via telephone and it went well. They wanted to know about the Master Gardener program and how to apply, etc.

And here is a picture of my new Christieara Pink Torch. I told you it looks like a Vanda. It think I can harvest a keiki one of these days.
