Casper's Shadow is full of bloom as usual.

I covered a few of the TB's that have stalks on cultivars I haven't seen in bloom yet. Hope they make it.

Well, the prediction was for 28 degrees, we usually get 5 degrees lower then they predict, as it's warmer in the city. It's 21 degrees here now, and will most likely drop another degree before the sun rises. The cherry tree is in bloom, and the pear tree has buds not quite open yet. Apple trees are just starting to form buds. Not sure there will be any fruit this year around here. I'm glad I have a bunch of late blooming irises, maybe I'll get some later bloom. At this temp, I'm sure even those I covered will get pretty cold. Sighing!

Tom Sighing! With all that is going on in the world, and in our personal lives, it is sad to lose this one little bright spot we find in the gloom. I know the irises will bloom again another day/year, and I know in the big picture I should not complain, but like a kid that is told there will be no Christmas this year..... Sad

I sure hope your fruit trees are not too badly set back by this freeze. Crossing Fingers!

Bonnie ~ So true. Many people will not have Christmas this year. We are the lucky ones, so far.

Tom ~ I agree with Bonnie. I hope you have enough late blooms to make up for Mother Nature's havoc on your garden.

Your Just Sassy bloomed darker this year. The cold must be a factor. I like it better darker but don't wish cold weather on you!

Cat's Eye has had a few blooms already, this one is the first one that isn't all ruined by the cold temps. It's a good grower and always blooms.

Now a couple "new to me" irises. This is Unwritten, it's a subtle beauty. I got it as a bonus and it's not a super fast grower here, and took a while for it's first bloom. You have to expand this pic to see the subtle details. I kind of like it.

This little trouper came up here last summer from the sizzling heat of the south and withstood the freezing temps of this wretched polar vortex North country and still produced a bloom. It will most likely be the only one this season, but has promise for some better things to come in the future. I love this bold little one called "Robin's Nest" I sure can understand where that name came from. Smiling

A couple of shots from around the gardens, here's a mixed bed that I refer to as my "historic" bed, as most of the irises in it are older ones.
