A friend's seedling. Love this plant. One year old. Lots of large blooms just above the foliage (scrapes could be a couple inches longer but get the job done), always well formed.

Beauties Will. My camera has trouble with deep purples too.

I went through the last couple pages that I got behind on. Some great books you guys and gals. I'm jealous still. I have 2 lilacs blooming, 1 clematis, a colombine, and a couple peony about it bloom..

These blooms are all so beautiful. Mine are such a mess...blotches, tears, thrips damage on most every one. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I'm toying with the idea of simply not going outside until the sun has been out due at least 2 days. It's been days. I woke up to sun, then it switched back to cloudy/rainy in 20 min.

Rain is hard on them, Ken. If rain gets down into the buds, particularly the ones with ruffly edges that can have openings, it can make the blooms splotchy.

Things will improve

My very first blooms for 2020! Usually Cyber Zone wins the race to being the first to bloom in my garden, but not this year!

Of course, Happy Returns was first. It bloomed yesterday.


But today, It Is Finished bloomed and I am impressed with it. So glad to have another early bloomer in my garden, even though it took it a few years to settle in. Got this in 2015.

Today's blooms are a total wash, literally. Just to much water to fast for anything to make a good showing.

At least melting flowers make good Monarch food.
Damage doesn't show as much wide view.
