Oooo guess what?! Everyone can easily propose a forum thread photo to be directly reviewed for inclusion in the database. Its a great way to get images that are already uploaded to ATP through forums to a place in the system where they are preserved and protected forever, and will help those who are using the database to search for a plant. Here is an edited version of Dave's post about it:

Click on the image in the forum thread and that opens it to a full-sized image. At the bottom of the full-sized image is a link that will say, "Import to Database." Click it, and if the picture is already in the database it will tell you that. If not, it will ask the name of the plant and pull up a list of possible matches. Select the matching plant entry and this creates a proposal that will be reviewed by the moderators. If approved, you get half an acorn and the owner of the image gets 1 acorn. The owner of the image is, of course, fully credited/copyright protected as the owner of the image just the same as when they submit it directly to the database themselves. Your help just gives their photo a nudge in the right direction! Thumbs up

These reds are all so gorgeous. Just WOW!!! Don't have many myself, and am gonna change that
after seeing these. Love the Wild Wookie. Haven't seen it before either. Have a few photos to share if I can find them
in the external hard drive or on disk.

The leaves are changing here also, and we are expecting frost tonight. The altitude here is
higher than that of surrounding areas, so it is more than probable for this garden.

Ohhhh, you are so bad for me Ed - I have a lot of reds, and may just have to put that on my ever growing "list"

I have a lot of reds, and in 2013 two of them outdid themself. Holly Dancer

and Best In Class. This flower is actually more red, and less orange-y than it shows in the picture.

There are so many variations in red - from bluish red, a scarlet red, to a rosy red. Curt Hanson always told me that one of the best reds out there is Bill Fall from Van Sellers. Van's ALL AMERICAN CHIEF is an amazing pure red, to my eye. One of my favorite reds is POINT OF VIEW from Sanford Roberts. The red is a like a red light signal red, pure and gorgeous!

For a rosy red, I like Curt's PEOPLES PLEASURE PARK.

And how about Dale Thomas' APACHE WAR DANCE, this late bloomer is more scarlet red.

This thread has gone wild! So many beautiful reds, I can't begin to choose favorites.

Here are some reds that I have. Not sure if they fall under the category of "true red", but I love them all. Did not realize that I had so few that I would consider red.

Apple Tart

Fever-new for me last summer

God Is Listening - described as a cherry red, but I would not describe it as sun-fast.

Mexican Art

Ruby Spider - love this one.

I actually have a bed that I call my "red bed"

Not all of my reds are in there, even then, it seems to "enlarge" almost every year or so

Really gorgeous reds here, folks, and thanks so much for sharing them with us! I'm particularly happy to finally see a garden shot of the 2012 Floyd Cove intro RED BULL, and I hope all of you will consider adding your pictures of these beauties to our database if you haven't already done so.

I've been adding a red here and there over the last year or so, and here are some of my additions:

RED BALLS OF FIRE - Couldn't resist adding it after reading your praise

RED CHILE RENDEZVOUS - A really brilliant red-orange
Thumb of 2013-11-17/Betja/b8c1da

CHERRY ICE CREAM SMILE - an instant favorite here!

DUKE OF GASCONE - A red-burgundy beauty

RUBY AND EMERALD - A bonus plant from Pete Harry Daylilies, and I really love it
Thumb of 2013-11-17/Betja/564578

And I can't resist including another shot of one of my absolute favorites,
FABULOUS FRIEDA

And finally a little gem: LIL' RED WAGON

Thanks to everybody who replied.
In my opinion A good to great red is a must in every daylily garden, but has anyone seen any breakthroughs in the last several years?
I sell seeds and the popularity of a pure red isn't all that great to be honest, and I don't know why.
My favorite Cherokee Star, is a garden magnet to the non daylily gardener looking to brighten up their yard but a hard core daylily grower would just say pretty and walk to the next plant without a second glance.
Is there no future in red? I hope not,
Ed Burton
