Dendrobium rigidum is a cute sun-loving miniature and in bloom right now.

My Spiranthes odorata always blooms a month after Spiranthes cernua for me, but this year it seemed a bit more delayed and the spikes are more compact than normal.

}}sigh{{ Late to the party as usual, Happy Birthday, Kathy! Hope the weather doesn't turn as grim as the weather liars are predicting. I'm convinced they are just tabloids and try to sensationalize every storm to the max to sell their ads.

I have a little spike on my Monk's orchid coming, but no new blooms - still have the last little Howearas, though. The Energizer Orchid! I'm sure you're all tired of seeing it, but these blooms do have a lot more yellow than any of the previous ones. Sorry about the slight blur, it's windy and nothing would sit still for pictures today.

C. intermedia X Bl. Morning Glory has a new spike with two blooms:

Finally Bulb. A-doribil Anna Roth has a new spike and even though the flowers are not completely open, I thought this was a good picture.

By the way, how about a weather report from those of you in the path of this big storm? I'm wishing you electricty and security. It turned cool here today with a strong breeze out of the north. I closed the OC windows so the orchids are comfy.

So far here in Fair Lawn - no rain yet but it is a bit breezy. Nothing nasty YET. I think many people will stay already home tomorrow, since it is supposed to get pretty messy by tomorrow afternoon. Our town has been fairly proactive lately pruning trees away from power lines, I hope that will help somewhat.
(You know, I wish we would slowly but surely place the power lines underground, that would solve a lot of problems! )

Nice blooms, Jim! The Bulbo looks very promising!

Ursula, I'm keeping you in my thoughts for the next day or so....I know you'll be glad when it's over!
I'm with you on the underground power lines...a project that is way overdue !

Hi everyone!

Belated birthday wishes to Kathy. I did not see this forum till tonight. Hope your day was special, just like you. We hope all your wishes came true or will come true~!~
The flowers are all beautiful. The white one....wow, outstanding.
Thinking of all of you facing the storms. We have had rain and wind here but more rain coming and high winds as a result of the storm, they tell us. But it will be nothing compared to those nearer the storm.
Have a safe week everyone.
Oma
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.

Thanks Oma! So sweet of you.
Our state of Massachusetts is in a state of emergency and all the schools are closed tomorrow. We will hunker down with the birds! Fingers crossed. Late afternoon tomorrow will be the worst of it.

So far just a strong breeze here, no rain yet. The leaves are coming down, which is a good thing.

Cool and sunny. This is the first day of the fall that I have opted for big boy pants as my cut-offs remain in the closet. The high today will be only 71 degrees, 10 degrees below normal. It is not as windy as yesterday.

It's blowing and raining! I am amazed we still have power, since the pole in front of our house cracked ( that was a loud noise!) and is now leaning.... a tree up the road went down and took a bunch of power lines along, which now litter the street. ( that's what created the pull which made our pole crack) Our street has been blocked from traffic!
Pretty messy situation here!
