Well, I'm back from the orchid club meeting and I didn't win any ribbons but got lots of compliments. In addition, I came home with a nice sized Stanhopea jenischiana X Coryanthes macrantha alba.

Wonderful show, Ursula! It's hard to pick a favorite but Cattleya "mossiae with a shot of labiata' is really nice. The Lc Mary Elizabeth Bohn has great color. Love it. Nice pic of the Octomeria grandiflora.

Bree, very nice Den. Burana jade 'emerald'.

I agree, beautiful, Bree and Ursula.

Can't help being tickled by the names again - Octomeria grandiflora has pretty little flowers for a "grandiflora" don't you think? Guess there must be another Octomeria with smaller flowers, huh? Shrug!

lots of beautiful photos being posted here while I've been crazy busy at work unloading
TONS of pansies and mums! I've got a bunch of stuff in bud, it's amazing how fast the
buds appear out of no where as soon as the plants go back in the greenhouse! This one
opened up the other day. Blc. Keowee 'Mendenhall' AM/AOS

and I posted this picture a few weeks back..it was incorrectly tagged from the nursery ...
Kathy caught the error. I sent a picture to the Ebay folks that I bought it from ,Kawamoto Orchids
they were so apologetic, even though I bought the plant 2 years ago (this was the first flower)
Reid Kawamoto answered my email within minutes, id'd the flower and within 48 hours I had a
huge replacement plant at my door. They have 100% happy customer ratings and have sold an
incredible amount of plants. Check them out sometime!

I had a nice post ready to go but the last upload went into a loop and I lost everything. Don't you just hate that?

I'll try again. Lindsey, nice Blc. Keowee 'Mendenhall'. I have one and it is a great bloomer. Also, I'm impressed by this vendor, Kawamoto Orchids. Nice folks. Even the orchid you received by mistake is a keeper.

I wanted to show off my new Vanda. It opened its first flower last night and there will be many more to come as it has two big spikes. Here is Vanda Boonchoo X Vanda Thonglor Sand:

Jim, great show! The Vanda is very pretty, I like it a lot! The Epi ciliare is neat! Love the Gerberara too!

regarding Sandy - that should be interesting.... looks like we are going to get smacked! We are prepared, we have enough gasoline to run the generator! Have to move a couple of things into the garage tomorrow and then we just hope for the best.

Thanks, guys. I'm wishing Ursula, Kathy and the New England gang the best of luck in dealing with this storm. We had a tiny bit of light rain and some clouds yesterday and the day before. It is now clear and breezy. No damage or anything like that around Tampa. I hear it is raining over on the east coast but nothing serious. I hear some very cool air will be coming our way in a couple of days. The weather people say lows of 51 degrees Sunday night. I will have to look for my sweater.

Lovely Vanda, Jim, but they are all just lovely and Enc. ciliare is just exquisite!

So far we've just had a little wind, not even a stray shower from Sandy. Hope Ursula is busy battening down the hatches.

I also have a generator. We are not supposed to get the worst of it but we are still recuperating from last year's flooding. It's supposed to rain from Sunday to Tuesday. Nerve racking! BTW, tomorrow is my birthday. Opera and dinner at a new restaurant!

Happy Birthday, Kathy!! Enjoy the day and many more good ones!
Which ones did you buy from Drdawg?

Not looking forwards to days of pounding rain! We have already a thick cloud cover for a couple of days now which reaches all the way to Pennsylvania. We were yesterday at our place, the weather was so dreary we drove home again in the evening.
I just have to secure a couple of things and then wait. The stores are probably crammed with people picking up milk etc.

I am glad you guys in Florida came fine through Sandy!
