Sorry to hear that. Hang in there! By the way, if you run across someone selling a decent sized Stanhopea nigroviolacea, let me know. I just discovered mine has died and am a bit distressed.

We had this problem during Irene. With the high river a branch snagged the lines which ran across the river and it pulled down both poles on both sides, ripping the elctric wires off my rental house in town along the river. My tenant had been evacuated but there was no power. I am amazed that you have power too!

The wind has really picked up here and the latest robocall from our selectman said that 2 roads are closed nearby and many trees are down and many have lost power. We will be having the highest winds till 9 PM.

It makes my happy just hearing from you guys. I just cooked a nice piece of potato encrusted haddock and broke out a nice 2009 St. Francis Chardonnay. I don't want Ursula to drink alone. Big Grin

By the way, there has been no news from Elaine for a while. I wonder if the grandbaby has arrived?

Sounds like Lindsey is stuck between rain and snow! Glad the rest of you have checked in. With air traffic canceled, Elaine may not get to her grandbaby, unless they got out yesterday. Our weather sucks for orchids, but I'm still glad I live on the west coast....

I'm still here, just lurking and very tired. All this nice cool weather has me gardening all day long, plus taught 4 classes of kids at the local elementary school garden today.

Don't think any flights out of here have been affected by the weather, and we're headed to Salt Lake, through Atlanta usually. Just cold, no storm effects either place.

We do have a friend scheduled to fly out of White Plains on Thursday to come here and crew for DH in a big regatta this weekend. We're wondering if he will get outa there.

Fingers crosses! Hope everything goes ok for you guys in the storm. A power pole fell down last night (traffic accident i think) and our whole area didnt have power for the night, wine helped me to Ursula and Jim. Rolling on the floor laughing Hilarious!

Lots of wind and rain here in Ohio, too. I can not sleep when the wind is so strong. I feel for those in harms way. There is a high winds warning out through the day and tonight. This is nothing compared to what many folks are going through. Prayers for safety to you all. Keep safe, my new friends.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.

Things are messy here in our area, lots of trees and power lines down, but other than that OK. My greenhouse held up to the wind, I am happy/relieved about that. I hear the sound of more generators in our street, increasingly people are buying them, since these power outages last longer and longer nowadays! That was a huge old Oak tree knocking everything down yesterday. And one could see flashes of light as transformers blew everywhere.
I expect to be out of power for some days....My son lives on the other side of town, he never lost power.

That's a shame. I wonder how Kathy is doing?

Perhaps this tiny flower will brighten your spirits. This is Pelatantheria insectifera.

Greenville, NC just had wind in the mid 30s with some higher gusts and we got around 4
inches of rain. I'm glad I spent the money and had a bunch of trees taken down earlier in
the fall...they were 'leaners' and would have been on the roof! Temperatures are dropping
quickly here and it's still quite breezy but not enough to keep me from unwrapping Christmas
plants....
