I have the big purple NOID Den up there over my head, too. I can only get the color to come out right if I photograph it against the blue sky, it seems! Just a little bit of thrips damage on these deep colored flowers! Amazing considering Marsh only sprayed for bugs once while I was away.

The new Vanda flower has opened up completely and is a really nice color now. Still, the tongues just crack me up.

That's great Elaine, you are on a roll with your Vandas in bloom! Your patience has been rewarded as has Diana with her gorgeous Paph.
I have a little cutie Vanda blooming for the first time. Not exactly the color I was hoping for but nice all the same.

Pretty Paph, Gina...love those markings on it!
Ursula, it's from a local grower that gets most of his stuff from the Dominican Republic. But maybe the few Vandas come from somewhere else???

Your little freckled Vanda is adorable, Lindsey. I wonder if the color will change as the flower matures? My V. Jairak Heartthrob starts out a very similar color, ivory with the dark red spots and the spots blend out somewhat so the flowers are very pink by the time they're done.

One of my little terete Vandas also has Thongchai Gold in the cross, I think. Going out to hunt for tags again now. Found only 5 tags left on the 13 little Vanda plants. All tags are in perfect shape, and not even faded from all the sun they got last summer, and so far this year. Those Grumbling Grumbling squirrels have been at work, I do believe.

Yeah, that's the problem. These little Vandas simply won't bloom inside the pool cage. Not enough sun.

They've been out in the wilds of the sunny portion of my back yard for over a year now. The squirrels have had a free-for-all.

That's a beauty. I wonder if it has Slipper Orchid (Paphiopedilum leucochilum) in its ancestry somewhere?

I always enjoy hearing about these sort of discoveries. Pity it's already endangered; hopefully no more of its habitat will be lost.

It's not yet in the KEW checklist, but I expect it will be soon enough and I will add it to our database then.
