Well this is guessing which end would best suit the "pile".

Terri...I like that idea. Thank you very much. I tip my hat to you.

Lynn...I am glad you mentioned the micro climate. I had thought I might plant semps to the front, which the sun hits most of the time and other plants to the backside that need more shade. I still have a lot to do. Should I leave it raised up in the middle for drainage? Where's Cynthia...I need her help too... Blinking Rolling on the floor laughing Group hug

Oh! If you plan on planting other taller things I might push the rock pile/tumble a bit forward. As well as the other rocks depending upon the height you will be using.

I just went and measured it by stepping it out. It is 22-23 ft x 10 ft. Here's a couple more pics. Using the ones I posted on April 12, it shows all four sides.

Oooo what a fun bed. I'm learning that I have to click on the image to see the full image. What are those plants in the front? Daylilies? Will you be moving them? Do you have a plant list of the plants you want to use (other than semps and sedums)? Man this could be sooooo fun!

I can see so many fun designs!

Awesome sketches Terri. I am such a visual person and need to see things in order to have an idea of what something will turn into. : )

Linda the new photos are wonderful I can see so many possibilities with your photos and Terri's sketches. Some sedum will want full sun and others will thrive with more shade, especially with your intense southern summers. Same with the semps, there are those that can handle a lot more sun and some that will suffer if they get to much intense sun. You will have to feel your way with this plan. Be will and ready to change some of them around if they are showing to much stress.
I also see such an opportunity to add even more interest your your planting palette by adding some other alpine type plants.
I think I am beginning to drool over the prospects. Drooling

They are looking great Charleen. Linda is right, by summer time they will be packed, you won't be able to see the cups. That is going to be beautiful.

All 6 beds 5/10/2011. The long one on the left of photo is the newest bed to be converted from veggies to semps and is still in progress. Still 4 more beds that can be converted before having to build more. I think I will make the new ones out of cement blocks and as the old ones need to be redone I will change them over to cement block beds also.

I have two Wheel barrows and an old tool box. I sneaked a peak under the first two cloths and they are starting to be semps again. Poor little things. Will get you pictures. I have a surprise for Jackie and Chris.
