I just came in from checking the Double Queen in the woodland. They are coming up. : )

They must have really hacked it too low.
My cleaners came with electric hedge cutters.
I was a bit taken back as the guy whose business it is said they had cleaned perennial gardens.NOT true when they couldnt identify very many plants.

I had a man who knew garden plants.He worked for me for 2 years,spreading compost in fall,edging and cleaning gardens perfectly.
I called both the phone numbers he gave me and they were both disconnected.He just dropped off the face of the earth.
None of his other customer has heard from him either.

I really miss him.

Keep an eye on the plants. I ran a hula hoe over one of my hellebores last year in the early spring and it is back this year. They are resilient plants. They would have to be tuff living on the forest floor.

Oh Jo Ann, I didn't mean to scare you. There are still great garden helper out there.

I have finally turned it loose Spring. It took several weeks though.
I will just try to find another Kingston Cardinal. Everything about it was perfect to me. And it's leaves never flopped to the ground, carried it lovely blooms way over the top of the foliage.

I will need to check that out.

I would thing it important to make sure the plant was from tissue culture and not seed. I had not thought of that until reading this.

I have cut them back in both the Spring when new growth has started and some years in the Fall and have never had a problem with them coming back. I even had one where a animal had broken it off in early June with no signs of life the rest of that summer and it came back the next spring.
