@Seedfork: Sir Francis Drake is constantly on the Daylily Auction. Mine, from there, is coming in April 2021. There are people selling SF or DF for darned cheap. The image is a screenshot as of 2mins ago.

And thanks to everyone else with the helpful info about Grandkids Daylilies and Wine Country. I might give the latter another look-see, I do find myself coming back time and time again to drool over it. But, I have noticed that many people photoshop their images to make the colors pop (my original reason for using this site, actually, is to see what the daylilies really look like without being touched up). I absolutely detest image manipulation. So, imagine my hesitancy when all you get is a single photo. Seems kinda lazy if they want to sell a gem.

Just so we can all drool.....

Drooling oh my.
Photos are really decieving.
Dont just buy because of a photo. You probally will be let down when it blooms in your yard.
If you want true pictures that are taken just look it up in here. That way you see what the cultivar really looks like. You get different pictures of the cultivars in different zones. Then choose. We were really dissapointed early in our buying based on pictures in catalogs and on websites. Then we found yall. Thanks
Color all depends on the soil. Just look at hydrangeas .

I'll post pictures when Wine Country blooms. I'm in Dallas, 8a. We get a lot of sun from April onward. Get into the 70s in early to mid March.

So very true Digger of Dirt. nodding Look them up on NGA plant data base, usually several pictures from different areas of the country, different cameras, different soils. This site is so very helpful Thank You! NGA. Still learning from all the info available, and of course all the wonderful people willing to help others. Thumbs up Thank You!

I may just "go for it" with Wine Country if we get another stimulus check from Biden.
I usually dislike frilly daylilies as they do seem just too girly (reminds me of ladies frilly underwear). Like something a toothless old grandma would grow.
But Wine Country, somehow, transcends that. Probably due to the high-contrast colors (plus it reminds me of a bumble-bee). I do so adore high-contrast colors.

I love that we are considering spending a stimulus check on daylilies! nodding
I, personally have nothing against frilly flowers, although I would never consider it as underwear ( uncomfortable!). Hope you get that Wine Country and post photos! I'm in Boston too, so would be interested to know how it does...

@Diggerofdirt: "On paper" it is a beauty. Real life, nobody has any evidence one way or the other.
But the creator is known for being upstanding. And I adore that he has OCD about everything, like I do. His bar for perfection is so high compared to anyone else in the business. I would say his one Achilles heel is the lack of dormant daylilies in his collection. They all seem to be evergreen or semi-evergreen (or at least the ones I like). Would be nice to know his creations would be winter-hardy up in the North.
But now, my new 'problem' is that I have finally come across a vendor of the Felix Jury Magnolia tree (you should have a peep on Google Images) which I have been searching for for many years (although now I would have nowhere to put it as I gave up hope a while back and planted other stuff). And this amazing tree is still cheaper than the little daylily!
I think I will need to make a list of pros and cons of each then decide who wins the ongoing war in my mind. Thinking

Wasnt trying to offend anyone. I believe you and i love the flower also. Outta my price range. I only speak from our own experiences. I also believe that it all depends on how you baby something. I dont baby any of our plants. Water only if it hasnt rained in a week and fertilize once a year. I am sure you do more than us. I know it will look gorgeous blooming and cant wait to see pictures.

They are now out of Wine Country, anyhow.
I am on a waitlist. The early bird gets the worm. I deserve to be on a waitlist for dilly-dallying in uncertainty.
Rolling on the floor laughing

Probably just as well. Now I will get a nice canna to put in the spot I had picked out for it, instead (cannas are annuals here). Probably 'Cleopatra' (it can't make up its mind what color to be, so just like me an my slow decision making - poetic justice).

I am looking for Fond Romance (Santa Lucia 2004) and not having any luck. Contacted Vic, and they no longer grow it.
Thought perhaps someone in their region might have it, so if anyone knows anybody, let me know!

I know Woodcrest Daylilies has grown it for a couple years - don't know if they would be willing to split it yet

@Deryll:
http://www.irongategardens.com...
Assuming the website is up-to-date (appears to be defunct/abandoned).

@StlDaylilyGuy:
Gosh, Heavenly New Frontiers is pentaploid:
https://heavenlygardens.com/ga...
Woodcrest has it "Held For Increase" so Robinjoy is spot on.
But the above link I posted is the original hybridizer (Gossard). Somewhat pricey.
As a consolation prize the LA has quite a few seeds for sale with HNF as pollen-parent at the moment.
