Oh I will have to go look.

Hidden Springs posted on Facebook that they will be opening on Jan. 1.
I don't believe they preview what they will offer though.

I liked Roger's Delight and Roger's Prize offered last season. The other new introductions don't look very different from what we already have unless I see them in person and change my mind. And I would need to wait several years until the prices will fit my budget Hilarious! OK, Wonderous Delight is early and full double, different, but it is $1000.

I saw that $1000 WD, too Anya, and thought that someone will end up buying it.

My Winter 2020 APS bulletin came today. Swenson's Gardens will be on tour for the 2021 APS Convention. Of course this is all subject to what is going on with COVID. I would really like to go.

I'm eagerly awaiting Fina Gardens and Solaris. I think between them I can clear my wish list.

LG, I sure hope some of the newer Itohs are in bloom at Swenson's when/if the convention happens this spring! Used to be I didn't think twice about spending the $100-300 for a new intro but those prices have skyrocketed....won't be buying any at $500 each or more even if they're gorgeous IRL.

Nobody plan to order the $1000 or $750 cultivars from Swenson Gardens?

Spending that amount of money would require a track record before I would even consider it. In other words, I would have to see it in person and have someone who bought it tell me how absolutely perfect and stunning it is and has acclimated to their northern tier garden. ITOHs just don't perform as well for me as their herbaceous and woody counterparts. And some of them don't look all that special to fork out that amount of cash. Or is it just me?

Do know that I am 100% on board with peony farmers and hybridizers making a fair living. I love supporting them.

I'm curious as to who would be buying these peonies at these prices, frankly for a newbie, a lot of them look alike. I really can't tell the difference.

I'm still on the fence about spending $50 on Anderson's Kaleidoscope so not me. Everytime I look at the photos of AK I want it a little more so I better set aside that money now!

I guess it's an attitude. If I could afford $1000 for a perfect peony would I still buy it? I don't know. In 2017, I spent $199 for Pastelegance and I thought it was the first and the last expensive peony for me. This year I bought Solara for $200 and I consider this as a limit right now. My salary is not going to grow so I hope it will stay like this Hilarious! I learned recently that Bengal kittens go for $2000, and one family bought three of them!

According to Southern Peony, I got one of the hot peonies for half price, here is the list. Alexander Woollcott. Yay!

You mad a very good choice, SoCal! I bought it from Gold City for $50 several years ago. I have never seen it for half price.

Thanks Anya, this year I said early on that if they were on sale I would buy them, so I did get 3 Etched Salmon and Alexander WoollCott on discount, of course a boat load of other peonies too.

I think with any activity, the longer you do it, the more experianced you get, the larger an investment you're willing to make.

Fortunately, I had a very small garden, so I cannot make big investments in plants even if I want to. I could not even find good sunny spots for all rescuees that I picked up from the streets (before the garbage people). Instead, I had invested in the demolition of the deck in the backyard and building a sunny garden bed for the rescued herbaceous peonies. The idea was to move the rescuees from the shade and to plant three or four new TPs in the shade. However, this summer, I rescued two Rhododendrons and I will be planting them in the shade. The Rhodos looked dead when I brought them home and I didn't expect them to survive, but I could not pass by the innocent plants thrown in the garbage. Since then, both Rhodos are both doing well; one of them even has a bud. Now I am thinking of investing in the demolition in the front yard in order to make some space for a couple of small TPs.

Sometimes I'm shocked to see healthy plants left for yard pick up but I've yet to take one home Jasmin. I am trying to bring myself get rid of some plants I'm not too keen on (a scraggly rose, some dull dianthus) but have thus far been too weak. I've made up my mind that if the peony in my front bed doesn't bloom this year it is at least getting relocated to a less prominent location (it's either Shirley Temple or Sarah bernhardt) .

I think most of my neighbours now have the same hardy chrysanthemums I do. They expand aggressively and I hate to throw out the sections I dig up so they go to anyone who wants them. So now my entire neighbourhood will be filled with peach & pink mums! If my orange and green take off in the spring everyone can expect more gifts!

Hey Anya—you mentioned. Bengal kittens....we have Bengal/Manx mixes—have the coloring of a Bengal but with longer back legs and no tail like their Manx mother. They are incredibly social animals, love other cats, dogs and people. This is the 2nd set of that mix that we've had since we were married 30 years ago and I would HIGHLY recommend them. We got ours locally in CO for a $200 "rehoming fee". Bengals are great, don't get me wrong, but the more exotic kittens are typically closer to the F1 rating, maybe F3? And they're just too crazy expensive.
