Thank you folk for the recent thumbs and acorns, what a nice surprise! Some of the lilies here now are just memories...

Sorry to hear that some of them are gone.

Did you have a good season and make any crosses?

Yes, we all have those "memories".
And I was reminded just how many I have ( Sad ) as I recently gave seminar presentations to the Manitoba Lily Society. They are an incredible group, by the way.

Hi Joshua and Rick! I feel like a bit of a stranger here, haven't kept up with any threads for months. It was a gorgeous summer, some really hot days. I made lots of crosses, though... and I already have hundreds of seed lots in the freezer, un-planted, so as I harvest them now I ask myself ...why!? It's a bit like compulsive hoarding. Compulsive crossing. Hilarious!

It could be several years before I have my own suitable space and facilities to plant again. I have to try and unclutter all the lilies I have now!

I don't look at it as hoarding, rather opportunity. Besides, all those pods might not yield so many seeds. It's a bit of a gamble for me.

Hope you have taken precautions if your freezer is the self defrosting kind. Smiling

Thanks Rick. Fortunately I have a chest freezer and it wouldn't dream of de-frosting without me Big Grin

Rick please explain the whole self defrosting thing to me. I keep my seeds in my regular freezer attached to the fridge. Haven't had any issues. Is that self defrosting?

Actually, now as these many years have past, I don't think it is such a BIG deal anymore, but it's easy to take precautions. I store my seed in a bubble wrap envelope, inside a bubble wrap envelope, inside a bubble wrap envelope.
