A lot of Judy Davissons, but since almost any daylily of hers I really want is listed as a hardy dormant, I stay away from those. I do have Miss Deameanor on the LA Want list. but so far, that hasn't happened.

I'd love to have Liz Salter's new WATERCOLOR WISHES.

http://www.salterdaylilies.com...

It took me a couple of years to finally get her HERE'S TO YOU BILL ROBINSON at a more reasonable price for me, so I know I just need to wait -- and maybe by next year I'll be able to get some seeds...

Lucky you Betty! HTYBR is a gorgeous daylily!
Not sure how it would do in northern zones, though

Yeah, I have a feeling it's more SEV/EV since its foliage still looks good and hasn't died back at all.. It's still a small plant here, though.

I'm bidding on seeds with it as pollen parent now on the DL Auction. I realize children aren't like carbon copies of parents but it will be fun to see in a couple of years. I will look forward to your pictures.

Pierce's Irish Mayhem, loved it from the moment I saw Betty's pictures --she has lots of them on
the data base. Here are a couple of them:

I know of three sources for this DL, but my problem is that they are all from the south, and I don't want to import rust into the garden ever again.

This one has been on my want list.

I have an order coming from Woodhenge Gardens this spring. Not getting the latest and greatest but Ice Water is on that list.

Always collecting for hybridizing.

Thanks, Vickie, I was thinking maybe I could order Irish Mayhem and try to keep it totally isolated from all the other daylilies--build a vacuum chamber maybe Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Kid, I can see why you like Pattern Maker if you want patterns in your hybridizing program. Here are a couple of pics of Ice Water from its first bloom season last year. It did really well:

Moving my post from this morning, realizing that it didn't belong in OT! The Porch Swing.

Just spending my Sunday morning thinking about the damage I've done to my wallet this weekend - on the Auction. Which brings me to this question...How do others choose which DLs to buy? I've spent hours(during this pandemic) building up my daylily collection - (still under 150 cultivars, with many uncounted seedlings in pots on the deck.) My choices, as a relative newbie, are varied. Daylilies are a new passion. One of my new buys is Buffalo Thunder. The photo grabbed me and then the database confirmed that it's beautiful. It's large and is the parent of an even larger and more famous cultivar. Then, it was offered by a California grower, just a few counties away, whose growing philosophies happily coincide with mine. Lastly, it has as its parent Violet Becomes You - and my paternal grandmother's name was Violet. How's that for scientific!
