Hi Gerry!
I discovered this week that blooms on one of Bill Maryott's new introductions, ORCHID PRELUDE (which I love and would not get rid of), have never fully opened. Bummer! They are on a different scape from the first one that I took pictures of, but we are experiencing a "cold spell" here
(high 60's early in the morning, but up to 70 by 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. and then up to low to mid-90's by afternoon) and the blooms stay tulip or cupped shape all day and never do fully open. This has happened on three blooms over the past week now.
I hope this is just a fluke with that one particular scape and it doesn't happen again, and also I'm pretty sure the rebloom on this variety will occur from now on earlier in the summer when it's at least ten degrees warmer each day, which will take care of the problem. I didn't receive this plant until around July 1st, so I think it's on a later schedule this year.
