It's probably best if I just don't look at that website when he does! Drooling

I agree

Tom, you are going to LOVE Maryotts. The ones I purchased from him last year, are for the most part - doing spectacularly. Most have been blooming fools with just a couple needing to settle in some more.~Jan

PS - and now I just HAVE to look. again. Gee thanks everyone Whistling

I just started using ATP but I joined a year ago.

I also buy from Bill and he indicated that my three orders will be shipped August 12, which means that Saturday, August 17, I will conclude my daylily planting for this year.

I have been learning a lot from ATP.

Thank you to all members who share their knowledge.

Hi Gerry! Welcome!

I discovered this week that blooms on one of Bill Maryott's new introductions, ORCHID PRELUDE (which I love and would not get rid of), have never fully opened. Bummer! They are on a different scape from the first one that I took pictures of, but we are experiencing a "cold spell" here Hilarious! (high 60's early in the morning, but up to 70 by 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. and then up to low to mid-90's by afternoon) and the blooms stay tulip or cupped shape all day and never do fully open. This has happened on three blooms over the past week now.

I hope this is just a fluke with that one particular scape and it doesn't happen again, and also I'm pretty sure the rebloom on this variety will occur from now on earlier in the summer when it's at least ten degrees warmer each day, which will take care of the problem. I didn't receive this plant until around July 1st, so I think it's on a later schedule this year.

CONGRATS to Bill!!!

Announced on home page.

"I just received a call from Jim Morris, the President of the American Iris Society. My last iris I created before migrating to daylilies just won the W. R. Dykes Memorial Medal which is equivalent to the Stout Medal in daylilies. It's the culmination of twenty five years of breeding iris before starting my present career with daylilies"

I saw that! He must be very proud. Hurray! I was a little confused about Busy Being Blue, he now says, or was he saying all along that you can get a double fan if you spend another $100.00? Wasn't he offering a double fan to begin with? I need to pay more attention to how much you need to spend. Whistling

I just checked Bill's website to confirm for myself that THAT'S ALL FOLKS won the Dykes Medal and to send him an email congratulating him, and I noticed that he has now placed a "Fall 2013" category under his introductions -- and of course there's nothing in it yet, but it's on its way!

They're up!

I really like the form on MISS PHOTOGENIC and the color on PRIVATE RESERVE. Bill's got the burgandy and purple flowers going marvelously!

I prefer taller daylily plants, and Bill's 2013 Fall collection offers just that!
Without a doubt, I will be buying a few, but I need to wait until next spring.
I teach and we just started the new year yesterday. My limited gardening time is devoted to fall clean up and transplanting a few clumps. And of course, there are pods to harvest.

Welcome! I prefer taller ones too. I have back issues and its nice to not have to bend over too much to take a pic of a daylily.

Daylilies
Yesterday I received my second order of the year from Bill. I could not believe the size of the fans, they must have been twice the size of my first order. The extra month in the ground in Bill's farm shows how fast daylilies grow.

Ps - my first order has just started blooming Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
What a long strange trip its been

Just opened my first order from Maryott's. Wow, Just huge fans. I can see that I will have to do this again! Nice bonuses as well. Busy Being Blue is among them! Now I get to go plant them.

My order from Bill also arrived today. It was actually three orders, each with a special gift:
Huckleberry Yogurt, Coffee House, and Busy Being Blue.
Of course, there were many other bonuses.
I will have to keep working way past 65 to keep buying plants, especially daylylies and hostas.

I never get tired of Bills daylilies. It feels like Christmas every time I get a box, I just never know what kind of surprises he will put in there. I am always speechless!!
