valleylynn said: Welcome! Cruddy, I too am glad you found your way to ATP. And I am looking forward to seeing more photos of your sempervivum. I was so thrilled to see your photo of Crispyn waiting to be added to the database. Our very first photo for this plant. Hurray!
Your above photo looks to be correct for S. 'Fuego', here is a link. Does it ever go through some amazing color changes. Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Fuego')

I agree with what the others said about giving your semps afternoon shade for your summer conditions. And also with what Chris said about the cactus mix and keeping them on the dry side during the really hot weather. Hot and wet can be lethal to them.

I also sent you acorns, and you can earn more by adding photos to the database and many more ways to earn them.
You'll want to earn as many as you can by the first part of March, we will be having amazing raffle items during 'Sempervivum Week'.

My lips are sealed as to what those items are, but 'Oh my' are you all going to be jumping up and down.

Hey Marilyn, how wonderful to see you here. Group hug
I can see you skipping around ATP with a basket of acorns hanging over your arm. Lovey dubby

Hi ya Lynn!

Hilarious! nodding

Yes, that's me! I click on a new member's name if I don't remember seeing it before and hopefully, I have enough acorns to give to them so they can have badges too! Hurray! Thumbs up

I keep adding to the database and getting more acorns. I even gave Woofie a big bunch of acorns for the Rose Raffle! Thumbs up

I am still a newbie as I joined less than a year ago, but do love this group.

I was the gifted with acorns when I was new and it is such an encouragement. So I have had a chance to

"play it forward" from time to time. It is fun. Have not participated in the infamous "acorn tossing contest" though.

Will try to build up my acorns for the MARCH contest, Maybe I need to go nudge my sleeping babies out there and get

some new pics. You guys are crazy and contagious. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I was here at ATP, but I missed out on the first acorn tossing contest and you say there's going to be one in March?! Hurray! Thumbs up

I better get crackin' and trying to build up my acorn reserve! Smiling

Rolling on the floor laughing You can say that again, I've been here less than a week and I have 18 on order, not to mention 2 vintage tin baths to plant them in.....

Thanks for compliment on my screen name. Yes these are addictive. I just got in an order from Youngs yesterday. I ordered Lilac Time, Grey Dawn, and some more Fuego just to see and guess what? The first time I ordered Fuego from them they indeed labeled the plants incorrectly. They gave me Maria Laach as a throw in and I believe that is what I have. I guess its a mistake anyone can make and I dont mind since all the plants Ive gotten from Young's are top quality. The new order of Fuego look exactly like what I have that was labeled Maria Laach. Below is a picture of what they sent as Fuego.

Kate, I do like your avatar too!!
Cruddy, yep, that can happen, and its challenging because they can look different when they're small rosettes. I usually order more than one order of each plant and there have been several times where they all look the same except for one! I haven't had them long enough to see if that one ever ends up looking more like the others. Also I tend to use the odd looking ones for projects where they get mixed in and become NOIDs.
Glad you got that sorted out though, and Fuego looks so nice! Its one I want too! - oh yeah, forgot I pretty much want them all, even though space is limited! Big Grin Hurray! Lovey dubby

I'm in the same boat with space. My wife is on me about getting too many so I have to exercise some self restraint. I took a picture of the Lilac Time and the real Maria Laach for all to see.

Marilyn, I think CDsSister was talking about the raffle coming up during Sempervivum Week.
Not sure when the next 'Acorn Fight' will be. We need to ask Dave.

Everyone needs to know there are many ways to earn acorns.
1. Find plants in the database that don't have details filled in, research it and add the details for the plant. = 1 acorn
2. Write a comment to an entry in the database. = 1 acorn
3. Add photos to plant entries = 1 acorn

Tempting and teasing. First we all have to get out of winter hibernation mode only then wild photographic evidence can be collected. I am thinking of doing a tour with enough brandy bottles in the car to keep me warm Glare . Lynn *Blush* , I do what is required but after that it is my time and freedom Shrug! .
