Tropicos does not mention it unless Lynn can quote synonyms and I search them. I have been having a feeling for a long time. There are various ranges here and I am next to the Himalayas which are verdant, moist, cool, etc. Hindu Khush is not all that far off(100 kilometers) and is dry, arid, cold and a hell hole. We have all the Koppens zones from Afghanistan here but if you look closely they are along the border.
I don't know how to explain but if you draw a line through the middle of Pakistan, North to South parallel to the border the Western part is all conflict zone and out of bounds for sane people. All the original inhabitants from these areas are refugees in the Eastern half. I can go but remain locked in cantonments, cannot roam around in the wild.
There is a small patch to the North where I might get safe passage with a camera Blinking , let me think. Just keep passing me the info. Maybe sanity might prevail some day which is now a common wish in this part of the world.
Huuuum! Cold and arid. Kalla Chitta range, nopes hot and arid. Karakorum range along the Chinese border, now that is a possibility but that place is accessible four or five months of the year rest snowbound. Plus normal lungs cannot cope up with the rare atmosphere. We have to take a forced break at 10000 feet, minimum one month.
Regards,
Arif.

Arif, please don't go running off on a "plant search" I would worry! Thumbs down
The synonym for Bukiniczia cabulica is Aeoniopsis, but I can't find more info on the plant.
Good luck, it looks to be a flowering biennial (not monocarpic!)
Cheers
I tip my hat to you.

Shrug! I learn't a long time back not to take all four tires across anything lying on the road how so ever small, I skirt it. One eye on the horizon any disturbance, turn and run.
I have to find some fool who can go in and out but then a fool wont know the difference between Bukiniczia and a cabbage.
Regards,
Arif.

Arif, here is some great information on where Panayoti Kelaidis found this plant in Pakistan. Very interesting read.
http://mailman.science.uu.nl/p...

It is also said that if you cut the bloom stalk off before they flower they may form offsets. They are monocarpic, when they bloom they die after setting seed.
What a fascinating plant.
Great find Greg. Thumbs up
