OK, a confession; this photo is altered, fiddled with, manipulated, improved. I didn't touch the blooms but the background in the original image looked like an impenetrable jungle of fleabane, husk tomato, sun flower, and perennial grass. Since it was backlit, there were deep shadows and brilliant highlights making it impossible to focus on anything.

So I carefully removed or reduced as much of the visual 'noise' as I could. It took about thirty minutes to do and resulted in an image that at least wouldn't crash your computer when you opened it.

Mea culpa.

Yes I'm a sucker for this daylily. It is so whimsical and it's about to enter the way-back garden. I have read comments regarding how weak the scape is but if you look you will see one scape with two blooms and three large buds standing straight up. It beats the heck out of a Stout winner that I will dig up and dispose of this year. It is also very late and as you can see will extend my bloom season Hurray!

Mascara Snake is just about done blooming for me. It leans horribly, but because it is late, I've decided to keep it and put up a small fence to hold up the scapes. Something I said I would not do, Shrug!

For plants like this I use this solution: it's a system with sticks in several heights with a shiftable holder for a metal ring - this ring is available also in different diameters. It's all green and does not attract attention - works for years. Maybe you can get something similar?

A fried of mine uses it on Mascara Snake - that's where I get the pollen from; at the moment I have not enought space vor another leaner. Smiling

Thanks for the pics of those supports, Sue. I will have to use something, I guess. As you can see, a few scapes are almost on the ground. I put Mascara Snake in this fence corner because I knew it was tall and wanted it to be a focal point for the corner. Was thinking about just stringing a rope loosely around the clump and tying it to the fence.

Bermuda Coral - new this year, so scape is short, but hoping to extend the season by adding this and other lates.

Small World The Grand Finale - a leaner, but heck, I'll take anything that doesn't start blooming until 7/18 even though it was a short season. It is already done, but maybe it will improve with age.

Sunset Mesa- first bloom 7/12. This was probably its last bloom on 8/6/21. Awesome sturdy scapes and I need to give this one more room to show off the gorgeous coloring.

Vickie - I have the same problem with Creature of the Night. I have it planted by a fence, but that's not the solution. I, too, think the ring supports might work - or a few of them per clump.

By the way, do you sell plants?

I just received this bareroot plant from Floyd Cove's summer sale at the beginning of July, and here is its first bloom -- on a very short scape, and the only bud that survived -- but at least I can see its beautiful coloring and I can't wait to see it bloom next year!

@KYgal, not a problem at all! I totally understand because on this site we talk to so many people from so many places that it is easy to forget who does what, where, and when, lol!

I've never sold my daylilies, but have been giving it some thought. Have only done a few trades and purchases with others from this site. Just yesterday, I dropped off eight daylilies to my hairdresser that I totally removed from my flower beds and told her that if she didn't want them all, give them to anybody who wants them.
