Got our daylilies from abundantdaylilies (Mark Sattelmeier) from the Lily Auction today. We are always pleased with Mark's plants. Got emails today that Dot, Tink (Michele), Packrat (the Flemings), Tim Herrington, and the Gaskins shipped today. Their shipments should be here Wednesday. I hope to get as many daylilies planted as I can. I dug up all the daylilies in two large beds today. David dumped bags of Lowe's topsoil and wheelbarrowed composted horse manure in one of the beds. Some of the daylilies will be replanted there, and the others will be replanted in a bed in front of the house.. Tomorrow the same thing will have to be done in the other bed. Many of our new daylilies will go in this bed. I will have to leave about 2:00, so my work time will be cut short.

Today was such a wonderful spring day in NW GA. David has spring holidays this week. We got some things accomplished but have much to do this week. The tree service is coming tomorrow to cut down 10 trees, mostly pines. We will have a good pile of wood chips by the time they finish. It is time to start putting the free wood chips on our pathways. Once we get this pile moved, we will ask them to bring us another load.

I got my plants from Mark yesterday as well. That list is sure something. When I used to see a list like that from someone, I would run and order more. Not to play catch up, but as vindication its OK. Now, when I see a list like that, I just see work work work ;-). Sure is going to be a fun bloom season for you tho!!

Me too! And with about half of the daylilies in my order (nine) he included extra fans -- truly appreciated!

And last week I received my order from James Hall (Mljomo) -- another wonderful order with extra fans included plus a couple of gift plants.

I love this time of year -- like Christmas all over again!

Santa Claus came in the form of the mailman today! If you have never received daylilies from our Tink, Lyle, or Dot, then you're missing a treat, such healthy fans and extra fans often in multi fan clumps. We also received our daylilies from Packrat (Flemings) and Sonjamae (Gene Wynn) on the Lily Auction (each sending very healthy fans and extra fans with almost all), the Gaskins (Mary sent a gift, A Tribute To Mary Gaskins, one of their seedlings that someone had purchased, named, and introduced.), Tim Herrington (he is generous beyond belief, sent two unexpected bonuses, one is a 2013 Introduction for our OZ bed and the other will be a 2014 Introduction that is a spider less than 4"), and the Trimmers (talk about huge fans and roots, they sent two of their 2013's as gift plants--Seashell Lullaby & Strawberry Christmas.) WOW was all I could say! The roots of these are soaking in water and SuperThrive and will get planted Friday and Saturday. David potted up some others, and I planted others even after it had started raining. Probably no outside work tomorrow as it is supposed to be rainy with the high in the upper 40's. Tomorrow will be a planning day inside to plot out where each new daylily will be planted, make labels and put them on metal plates, and just do NO physical labor. We are expecting three more shipments tomorrow which will be only one or two daylilies each, I think, and a few more shipments next week.

Pam, sometimes I trim the roots if they are super long, but usually I just plop them in the hole on top of the mound I make.

I ordered some from Tim Herrington to use for show flowers since they have such great show scapes on them. He was out of one of the ones I wanted so he sent me a 2013 intro as a bonus, it was HOUSE OF HINES. I will definitely be buying more from him this fall.

I like House Of Hines and considered ordering it. Maybe you will have pictures to post here so we can see it blooming in your garden. I WISH I had ordered Rhapsody In Green before it quickly sold out. I will order it at the end of this year as soon as he gets his 2014 website ready to go.

I don't have any plants coming but they are finally growing! Yay! And I found the fans of INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE that I forgot to tag. Yay spring!

I finally got to do some yard work! Strange that I am so excited by that. It was a lovely day yesterday so I got everything in the back yard ready to go. The beds were weeded, I put down Preen, Milorganite and alfalfa then watered everything in. I also realized that I am out of practice...tripped over a shovel and smacked my elbow, tripped on the hose and fell through a rabbit fence and then pinched my finger in the hose valve! Yeesh! Now I just need things to bloom and I will be happy. There is new growth on everything in the yard except PERSISTENT BUTTERFLY. Sure hope that is just slow to get going as I loved it last year and wanted to use it for some crosses this year.

I got my order in from Michele(tink3473) today. Two boxes full of huge, really huge, green green green, tremendous roots, and what else can I say, daylilies!! Michele always has fantastic plants. I knew their weather had been freaky this year too, so I wasn't expecting them to all be huge leeks, but they are. Most of them are already showing signs of dividing, which is wonderful. I had been bidding of Magnificent Hummingbird, but was always outbid, so she sent that as a bonus. Also, I bought 2 fans of Cosmic Odyssey, which I plant to use a bunch in breeding this year, and she sent me another 4 huge fans of it. So, that was a tremendous bonus for me.

Tink sent us a nice surprise today---5 nice fans of Ledgewood's Pansy Eye. She had told us several weeks ago that she would send us Ledgewood's Pansy Eye as a bonus because I had bid on it when she had listed it on the Lily Auction. Tink has already shipped our daylilies earlier this month and included nice bonuses and lots of extra fans but forgot to include LPE. Michele is just THE best! Don't you agree?
