Jim, there is no Dendrobium Burana as such, but there is a Dendrobium Burana Greenstar. That is probably what you are looking for.

That would be Den Burana Green x Den Madame Vipa
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/horticu...
no single quotation on the Greenstar.
Good look tomorrow!! Thumbs up Your nobile x will surely bowl them over!

Carol, I love your show today here! Gorgeous colors! Don't feel bad about 'Ursula', at least yours is still alive and blooming. Mine was declining slowly but surely and I pitched it this Winter. I love the Maxillaria!

Elaine, you are way ahead of me on the Iwanagaara ( or Jackfowlieara - giggle) Appleblossom, mine is in bud, needs a few more days to open. Nice one!

Will there be Spring one of these days? We dodged another Winter storm here today, we just got a bit of drizzle instead of snow. I wasn't crying. Temperatures barely hit 40 F this month.

Thanks, Ursula. I finally found the same thing last night in the wee hours. My mistake is believing in the tags that come with these orchids. All is packed and I'm off to the gym, then the show. It's cold out there this morning!

It's a beauty, Tarev. Wondering why it doesn't actually have purple wings, of course! Confused

Sometimes they name these orchids for obvious reasons, sometimes not I guess.

You know I wondered about that too..but I think I remember why, last year, as the blooms start to fade away, the edges of the petals show a purplish hue..maybe that's why they call it purple wings Big Grin

These photos taken in July 1, 2012, as the blooms started its fade away stage:

That's a beauty, Tarev.

I had the orchid meeting today and am now just back from choir practice. I sang last night at a nursing home and pushed it a little so am a bit raspy tonight. That's bad as I sing Thursday through Sunday at church. The good news at the orchid meeting is that my big Den. nobile cross won the member's choice ribbon. My Schomburgkia undulata won it last month so I am doing well. In addition, I picked up a new orchid called Bepi Phoenix 'Kona'. http://www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~azum...

Thanks, but no time to float as we are planning another reunion with Laurel in Apopka. I think Elaine and others will put on the buying shoes and hit the greenhouses on April the 10th. It should be fun.

At the orchid club meeting yesterday, Vern Bloch gave a program on Brassavola hybrids (right up my alley). Among the many slides of the beauties was Mcv. Francis Fox. You an see a picture of it at http://www.mekealohaorchids.co... I have already called them and think they may have a division of one to sell me. I'm waiting for a call now as he checks to see what he has. I also saw a picture of the lovely B. grandiflora which I may chase until I find one. This is fun!

I was looking at the pic of Jim's Bepi Phoenix 'Kona'. Not familiar with Bepi. so I did a little surfing. Wow! Nice looking crosses. Is anyone familiar with the care etc?

Ted, I would think it needs bright light, here in NJ I am thinking as much sun as possible, especially in Winter.
I had to look it up too, Bepi is Brassavola x Epidendrum - both are bright growers, so I would think the x needs similar conditions.

A good fit for Jim's OC!

Hmm, sounds like one that would work for me, too. Will have to put that one on The List!
