thanks for another reminder to go cut some parsley (meh, I agree) and cilantro before freezing rain on Thursday which may beat it up pretty good.
Plant it and they will come.

Yesterday, because I thought I was going to receive heavy pounding rain, I went ahead and harvested all my mustard greens. Cooked some, froze some for later. Now I need to clean up that row to put my new purple ones in there. Smiling

This morning I planted some of my new seeds (Heatless Habanero, the chrysanthemums my cousin sent me, Pinto coleus, dill and Orange Hat micro-dwarf tomato). So far only very few of my Dandy Dahlias are coming up, my fancy petunias, that other coleus I keep forgetting the name of, Raspberry dianthus/carnations, something snapdragons, Tiny Tim tomatoes and apricot vincas are all germinating. Hurray!

That's good because I hope for a better turn out than its red counterpart. Can't remember the name of it offhand but boy that was NASTY. Sticking tongue out If you are interested in some seeds I do plan on saving some from the fruits if you would like some. Smiling

We might get snow next week, it depends if the really cold air gets here ahead of the next front.
It's cold outside, with a 25 mile per hour tailwind. I really need to blow off the driveway because it's covered with acorns and leaves, but too cold for that. I'm pretty much done with the yard until it gets warm again. Then I will finish the raking and throw down some seed for wildflowers. They germinate pretty well here in the winter.
We do get those cold fronts down from Canada, but the temps go up after the front passes.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.

Last night was supposed to be the major part of the winter storm for us and I was happy to wake up and see less than an inch of snow outside- we mostly got rain. Kind of a sloppy mess, but better than a couple of feet of snow!

I HATE winter.

Today was sunny but cold. High was 59. Went out during the afternoon and pulled and chopped chunks of chickweed that was trying to take over my mustard green and kale rows. I also HATE chickweed; it is literally indestructible. No matter how often you hoe it, it WILL come back.

Another thing that bugs me is my family. They keep calling my mustard greens, turnip greens and they do not listen or care when I correct them. They think 'greens' are basically all the same. No, they're not. Do mustard greens taste exactly like turnip greens? No! Do mustard greens produce edible bulbs/roots? No! Honestly!! Glare

They don't?? Just kidding.
Off topic and I don't want to post elsewhere for just one question, but where's the phone icon on a tablet? I got my first tablet today. No idea how to find the icon or drag it to the home screen.

No tablet here Deeby, Google the tablet type and question those guys.
Yeah, my weeds are healthy too. 'Greens' refers to the green upper part of any edible plant, beet greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, poke sallet greens, radish greens, spinach, chard, arugula, kales, collards, I even eat broccoli greens, chuckl. The root parts are root veggies and named as what they are. I think they are trying to tell you they aren't going to eat anything that is 'greens' anytime soon, so aren't going to bother learning the difference. Just smile big and pat them on the head and tell them you're sorry, your loss.
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!

It has been freezing temperatures over here for a while now.

I have scaled back on my DWC and Ebb and flow systems following a call to conserve energy at home. Crazy energy prices over here.

So yes, given the circumstances, I am thankful for winter sowing Hurray!

Concur. There is a wide difference in both flavor and texture among the many types of edible plant leaves. Even among varieties of the same species. Some people will not eat a cooked green, while others will love multiple types. Some folks love turnip greens but hate turnips, so they grow varieties like Seven Top, All Top which do not form edible roots.

Looks good, Matt! Will you put row cover over, or you just mean soil over seedsm

I grow a few different greens and generically call then greens when I cook them, mixed (tatsoi, chard, arugula, mustard) or if I want to avoid a specific name that may get hesitation about eating (mustard being a name we are most familiar with for yellow mustard that goes on hotdogs, which tells you nothing about how my mustard greens taste.) But I also have a weakness for precision and would find it hard to ignore someone saying turnip greens when I've served them my nustard greens. I can generalize in the one case but find it hard to ignore specific statements. Sticking tongue out Today I think I will be cooking greens (mostly tatsoi, some arugula) with white beans and garlic.
Plant it and they will come.
