Here's an unknown little polinator filling up in the asters this afternoon


I saw this spider with my naked eye, and thought, that's an unusual color for that type of spider. Then I looked closer, and maybe I'm giving her too much credit, but it looks like she covered herself with a layer of white webbing to help camoflage her against the white bloom. Could that be?

Finally, a critter photo I thought worth taking. These two were huddled in a Might Do bloom this morning:

The other day there was a Hitchcockian number of Starlings feeding on something (grass seed?) in my back yard.




I just love bees. Especially bumble bees. When it's cold, they are just so docile. They love Lemon Queen perennial sunflower.

We brought the card from the game camera in and have sorted through all the pictures created by wind, rain, or critters. Our critters are mostly deer, though there were a couple of a pair of coyotes - at night and too blurry to post, as well as one we think was the bear that got into our recycle bin several months ago. That was a large darker blob in the general darkness at night - could see what looked like front legs, but not much else. A few of our resident fox. The first one is from a couple of months ago when the fawns still had spots.


This one is more recent and shows how they've grown and changed.

I watched a deer mama and her two fawns ( older but smaller than mom) at my brother's house on Thursday eve. I'm still so grateful they can't reach me though I love watching them in other places. Wish I had a resident Fox though!

I'm liking the deer and the lizard, but I've always had a soft spot for the foxes with the black socks.

I don't know what's going on with my phone these days. Perhaps iPhones are programmed to create blurrier and blurrier photos until you buy a new phone. Not that I'm cynical or anything.

Regardless, in recent years we have snow by now, so I'm happy to present blurry bees.

Tim, I have been guilty of blurry photos.
Sometimes entirely my fault, the lens gets fingerprints or stuff from my pockets on it .
Also, with this years weather the lenses get condensation pretty quickly. So the phone refuses to focus for me.
Now I always make sure to give them a wipe when I pull my phone out for a photo. Things have greatly improved

Couldn't help thinking of this critter in my garden a few years ago - here is the Prince in Royal Palace Prince

It is the time of year when large flocks of robins show up and the backyard is a mass of activity. It is fun to watch.

One of the neighborhood foxes sauntered by but didn't disturb the robin frenzy for long.

Speaking of critters, traffic was stopped on my drive home the other day because a group of wild turkeys were just standing around in the middle of the road. What were these turkeys doing hanging out in Baltimore is anyone's guess but they were oblivious of the car traffic. All the vehicles were content to watch these turkeys saunter along.

Cool! I need to buy some cracked corn to sprinkle in our "outback" for the turkeys here. I've seen them pecking in the yard several days over the past week or two. Four of them, all in a line, walked up the back bank and did some hunting in the periwinkle. Not sure what they're finding but more power to them.

Found near the seedling beds today. No, I didn't do it.
