SusaninSB said: Elena, you might want to call DA and ask about your order. The only reason I say this is that someone on my other rose forum was told by DA that her Munstead Wood would come in 2-3 weeks, and when it didn't, she called and was told they ran out of it. The worst part is that someone else on the forum who had ordered from DA after she did (same rose) received theirs. Just mentioning it so you can grab the ones at the local nursery if needed!

SusaninSB, you are absolutely right! They holding my order because of Munstead Wood issue. Grumbling They told me that this rose did not meet the quality standards and they are short of it. I have placed my order Oct 31. I was asking why they did not update me?! And they told because of high volume of customers... nodding It takes me 3 days to get hold of them over the phone.
Looks like Munstead Wood discontinued.
Unbelievable! Thumbs down

The month is near its end and I have started rose work late in the Spring before but tomorrow I will start , maybe finish, uncovering the roses up North.

Chances of 20 degree weather are forecast as Zip so the temp. should not be a problem.
I pulled extra bags of leaves off of the Raspberries two days ago and was surprised to find solid ice under them.
Really hurting for cars now as Sharon smucked her car two days ago, drivable in Daylight, and the Garage said my car will not be worked on till May 9 (Engine arrived for it day after the started two other projects).

SO, Roase garden down South, which really should always be uncovered before the one up North will be last one done again.
Happy Malaria Awareness Day I tip my hat to you.

You cover raspberries with leaves?? I never cover my raspberry canes and they do very well as long as they get enough sun and moisture during the growing season. You mention "up north". I am really up north (Canada, zone 2b) and mine do fine.

No I just had extra 50 gallon bags of leaves and put them where they would be easy to get IF I needed them.
Now I moved them to where , I really did not want to put them but the veggie. garden is muddy and too many days from being usable.

Elena, DA tends to be quite a disaster recently. Their response as to why they didn't notify you ("high volume of customers") sounds like the typical "supply chain issues" reply that so many vendors are relying on now. Fall 2021, I ordered a Bishop's Castle as a back-up for an elderly one, and a Munstead Wood. Received spring 2022. The Bishop's Castle was fine (other than DA's tendency to crazy long grafts), but the MW was tiny. When you say "looks like MW discounted", I assume you meant discontinued. Yes, I've heard they're discontinuing it. But they have kept several roses in stock for awhile after discontinuing them... sometimes you have to do a search on their website, b/c they're not listed in the regular catalog. I must admit, I'm pretty much over DA at this point.

SusaninSB, thank you for sharing your experience! Yep, I meant discontinued, sounds like Freudian slip, I wanted to ask them a discount for all troubles. nodding
It's my second time ordering roses from them and my first time also was not good. They very loosely packed roses with fertilizer in the same box and a lot of buds were damaged, one rose was just broken apart. This year I was not able to catch DA roses at Regan and decided to give DA second chance. Had a bad feeling from the beginning not getting my order first week of April. Now I got why it's much easier to order DA roses from their website than from other vendors. Rolling my eyes.

Yesterday I was able to get the leaf mulch off most of my roses. Some had pale leaf buds opening so we will see how they do. It is hard to get out there this year due to the delayed thaw/warm up. Still waiting for that warm up... The mulch toward the bottom was frosty in a few spots here also. Can't get enough of those leaves for more compost. I am joining a few lone garden patches together so will need a least 8 yards of dirt making material.

My impression regarding delivery of plant stock or seed is that they don't have enough staff. My son says the millennials are really into gardening and I would agree. It's not quite Hunter Games at the nursery or ordering online but you need to be on it. Customer service staff used to be able to answer questions but many times they have to confer. Orders get mixed up or shipped improperly because there are newbies about. My DA order was shipped early but 6 out of nine roots were quite huge and in good shape. Three were on the small side but that could be the variety. I have ordered from them several times and was satisfied. After this year's delayed start I would contemplate ordering potted plants, but the bareroot stock is much bigger.

Checked on my roses at other house today. Some are putting new leaves on like crazy, some just have beginnings of buds and my new Black Baccara isn't looking too hot and I forgot to take pictures of it. I'll try to remember when I get back out there this weekend.

This has been a long and really cool spring so things are extremely delayed in some areas but some plants seem early. I still have roses to take over there and plant but the weather and schedules haven't quite worked out yet. Hopefully next weekend I can get stuff in the ground. This weekend is going nuts buying weekend. Whistling Whistling
