Loading up on annuals this weekend. I'm actually having to figure out how to make a quick and temporary 2nd layer in the bed of my truck so I can fit more flats in. Just covering the bed won't be nearly enough. So making another bed in there. Truck has a cover so no issues with the wind bothering them. Hanging baskets will be shoved in the backseat with a teenager and hopefully we can fit them all in there since I will need about 7 of them. All this to go on 2 sides of the house. If I need more I will get them locally at Home Depot. This is all for the memorial service we're doing in June.

I'll post pics of one of the spots in next post. Pics are on phone and I'm on computer.

South side of the house. This will be all annuals. Pix was taken last month so it's alot greener now with irises about to bloom. Almost everything in there will come out and be moved or given away and next year or later in season it will be mainly natives. Roses are in the back by the shed.

Other direction. Phone being a pain. My roses are planted back there in the back. That's a big garden area that I will slowly be redoing.

I also have to go around the front porch. It looks good now but that bed is LOADED with irises and wormwood. I have to get it all cleaned out because it really doesn't look that good.

Plans have changed a bit and we aren't having the service there now but I'm still gonna make it look good because we'll have plenty of company there regardless.

For second layer get four cinder blocks, place them in four corners of the truck box and place some plywood on top of them. Shove first layer of annuals under the plywood and second layer on top of plywood sheet. Just a suggestion. You have a lot of work waitingfor you judging by the size of your garden. Plant, plant, plant. Good luck.

That's what I was thinking of doing for the most part. Will be working on that tomorrow. I still need to wipe down the inside of my truck this week as well. It's a total different color due to the gravel dust and not being cleaned since.....ummm....Fall?? Whistling Whistling Whistling

That bed along the house was supposed to be natives this year but I was told to have blooming plants for the service so I said it's gonna be annuals. Changes made at last minute had me rethinking that but I'm still gonna go ahead and load up. Good excuse to get some free help moving rocks out of the middle of the bed and pulling weeds. Alot less work for me!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Elena, Modern Art is one of my all-time favorite roses that I (sadly) lost about 3 years ago. I despair of ever finding it again. Kicking myself for not having made a back-up of it.

I once had three of them because it's such a gorgeous rose. It doesn't grow well on its own roots. I lost two of them years ago and the third is now only about 6 inches tall and produces only one or two blooms a year. The one or two blooms, however, make up for all of its shortcomings.

This is most of the bed that has the roses. I have Chrysler Imperial on the right side of the shed there also and a no name in a spot out of the pix. Where the row of straw is is where most of the roses are. Far left will be South Africa, then Purfume Factory, Moonlight Romantica and Black Baccara on right. All are just mostly stubs still so can't see anything but bits of straw. Hopefully everything takes off when it warms up. This whole garden area will take more than one season to get it even halfway decent.

My BlackBaccara last year, after looking good in the fall of 2021, was kaput when I uncovered it in 2022; all other roses were fine up North.

It's one of two new roses this year that I splurged on. Hoping it snaps out of it's funk soon. We're slowly warming up so things should start popping soon.

Here are some of my early bloomers. The banksias have already been blooming for weeks.

One of the Yellow Lady Banks roses is no longer content to sprawl all over three arbors and has decided to climb a tree as well.

Purezza is a white banksia that reblooms and is quite fragrant.

I think I'll just do six photos per post in case something goes wrong. I'll do the rest of the alphabet later.
