I'm also trying not to buy the big quantities for a while. I need to only get what I think I can get in the ground.

Same here, and I have a lot of bulbs that should be dug and divided. Still need some tulips, though, and those mini double daffs are tempting (but not 500 of them, nor 450!).

I do really want Amaryllis. If I'm alone in this, that's OK, I'll get the mixed Dutch or just get one or two varieties (some to keep, some as gifts). Potting up is easier than planting out!

Jill - thank you but I'll just stick with the foxtrot.
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Chantell, LNK if you were looking at any of the other mini / species tulips. I've had 'Red RIding Hood', and it persisted several years, although it didn't spread like 'Little Beauty'.

Thank you - but maybe next year, Jill. I've got to pull up the bulbs (once they've bloomed and I can see which is which) that I'm not interested in next spring so I have a better idea of what spaces will be avail for the 'look' I'd really like...if that makes sense at all. Confused

I'm in for some fall bulbs.

daffodils - tete deluxe (I'll take whatever is left to make up the box of 500)
hyacinths - gypsy princess, splendid cornelia
iris - reticulata harmony
tulips - spring green, super parrot, all season purple mix

Prices are up everywhere. I just checked van Engelen... they didn't have 'Tete Deluxe', but the classic 'Tete a Tete' are 500 for $257. If they are still available if/when VE does a 40% off sale, that drops to $154 ($15.40 per 50). So this year, ADR's prices might not be better than VE's sale prices, but still close ($180 for 500, $18 for 50).

Terri hasn't chimed in yet, but right now we are not at the minimum order (since only half of the 'Tete Deluxe' are spoken for, I didn't count it).

Do we just want to order elsewhere this year, maybe wait for end of season sales?

crossed with Terri... never mind!

I may still order some amaryllises from ADR and some from VE

Aspen are you willing to divide your order of parrot tulips? If so I'd like 10-20 bulbs.

Terri, right now there are 250 'Tete Deluxe', but I bet some of them could be "sold off" at the swap. Once the bulbs are in hand, there are always people wanting them.

hyacinths - gypsy princess, splendid cornelia
At VE, 25 hyacinth bulbs are $20, so if any remain for end of season discounts, they'll be cheaper there. Just FYI

Gypsy Princess, Did you mean Gypsy Queen? They are 50 for $36

Splendid Cornelia, 50 for $36. Could I have 5 please? I'd be willing to split the box. They're lovely. I see them described as lilac-purple or lavender.

I'd also be willing to share a box of darker grape-purple 'Miss Saigon' if anybody is interested.

iris - reticulata harmony
Box of 250 for $55. Could I snag 25 or 50 of them please? Unless you want to go nuts and split a tray of 2500 for $375 ($37.50 per 250)... I'd take 250, possibly more.

tulips - spring green, super parrot, all season purple mix

Spring Green: 100 for $46

Super Parrot (lovely companion to Spring Green): 100 (in 10 packs of 10) for $52 (25 for $13) or 125 for $61.25 (25 for $12.25)
Lisa, would you want 25 Super Parrot ?

All Season Purple Mix: 100 for $46

Lisa, the parrot tulips come as either 100 bulbs (in 10 bags of 10) or 125 bulbs (bulk bag). LMK what you two want to do. They'll be gorgeous with the Spring Green if they bloom together

VE gives bloom time for both Super Parrot and Spring Green tulips as May, so there's a good chance of seeing them together. VE's pic of Super Parrot is stunning, really ruffled.

In comparing prices, it does look like if VE's end of season sale is 30-40% off, those prices would beat ADR. ADR is still a better deal at current prices.

Jill, all amounts are fine - where there are quantity options, I'll take the lower quantity. I did mean hyacinth gypsy princess (want yellow for the lemon garden). Will go with the hyacinths from ADR vs waiting for Van Engelen sale. And yes, if you want some bulbs from any that I am ordering, you got it.

Got it, thanks. Somehow I didn't see Gypsy Princess, but I found it now.

Do you want to split Splendid Cornelia and Miss Saigon or just swap 5 from each box? No rush to figure that one out. I think I'll order Miss Saigon regardless.

Miss Saigon is one of my favorites. I like to combine it with Jan Bos and Peter Stuyvesant. Peter is getting harder to find.

Peter S. is a dark blue I think? I grew Aida once, and it was medium-dark blue. ADR has Aida. I haven't seen Peter S anywhere so far this year but haven't really searched.

My recollection is that we've been able to add to our order over the phone, without needing to meet the $400 minimum for placing an order online. So I want to give people a chance to decide whether to fish or cut bait without waiting too long, but I think we'll still be able to accommodate latecomers
