I forgot earlier to post this photo of Buffalo Thunder. It is blooming on a proliferation scape that has 7 buds.

Here is a view of the prolif taken a few days ago. I have made a little "pot" using aluminum foil and put potting soil in it to try to get a good root system.

That is beautiful Ann!
I have a question though. I'm still a newbie. Why did you not cut the prolif off long ago & pot it up by itself? I thought that was the way to do it. I just had a prolif on a NOID that I like & cut it off, stuck it in water & when the roots were long enough I potted it up. I have done this many times with prolifs. Am I doing things wrong?

Gorgeous one Ann. That second photo certainly shows all the ruffles.
Only a few of my new ones have bloomed so far. This year is later than
usual for most.

flaflwgrl: there are many ways to root prolifs. Whatever works is good. I take mine off once the scape starts turning "brown" and put in water to get the roots growing better. Works perfectly. Haven't lost a prolif yet. So just do what you do if it's working!

Great flowers everybody!

Ok, good to know. I thought many years ago that I took one off the plant and planted it beside the mother plant and when it bloomed it looked different. A nice member here sent me a nice clump of Margo Reed Indeed that was grown from a prolif, so I am glad to know that it will bloom true to the original plant.

A couple more open everyday, which is neat. This first one is a lillium but I have no idea which one. Back 25 years ago I didn't keep track of names.

Cindy, Best of Friends & Cinnamon Mist are really pretty to me. Lovey dubby

Thanks for the answer Judy. Yes, I always wait until the scape starts turning brown before cutting off the prolif. Funny, last night when I asked that question I didn't even think about the fact that obviously the scape on Ann's prolif has not turned brown yet. I have never heard of a prolif getting so large w/o the scape turning brown. Wow!
