When looking at various sets I often wonder when the photo was taken. Plants A, B and C are blooming at such and such a time. This set by ge1836 is an example of Sedum and Semps at various color stages, frozen in Time.

It would be nice to have a date of when the photo was taken.

I agree

The main things I like best about this feature is that I can keep track of what blooms/looks best planted with what, when they bloom/look best, and, once they're in here I don't have to page though mounds of perennials in my list just to find the name of a plant that I can't ever seem to recall. Some of us, like me, don't keep a record of dates when every photo was taken. So if this feature is added, a date should be an option, not a requirement.

Most digital photos have a date attached to the file. But I agree with it being an optional feature.

dave said:Here is a new feature to play with: Image Sets! You can upload a photo of your garden, landscape, wild area, etc. Then you can draw a square around each item in the photo and give a description of what's inside the box you just drew.

Also, instead of entering a description, you can type in a numeric plant ID code and that plant will automatically be linked to it from the database.

Check out the feature here:

http://garden.org/apps/sets/

Click on an image to see it in action.

Once you're viewing an image, at the top of the page you'll see a list of the plants that are mentioned in the photo (if any plants are appropriately marked in, that is). Example:

http://garden.org/apps/sets/vi...

Lastly, in the database itself, if you are viewing a specific kind of plant that has been tagged in any Image Set, that will appear at the very bottom, below the Photo gallery. Example:

Russian Comfrey (Symphytum x uplandicum 'Bocking 14') (scroll to the bottom to see it).

Have fun!

Dave on two of my image sets there is nothing showing up in the data base below the photo gallery. The only one that has 'this plant has been tagged in ____ immage set is the one with the perennial Hibiscus 'Lord Baltimore'.
Thanks for your help!

I noticed on the hosta one, not all are linked into the database. How are you creating the links? Are you copy/pasting the URL or the ID#? Hosta 'June' is a bad link too.

I have an experimental auto-tagger that I'm playing with. I activated it for your three photos and they sure are linked properly now. Smiling

I did have bad links at first because I was not copy and pasting but I thought I fixed all that.

Dave, I see it now!!! Thanks so much, that works good. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! (whoohoo!)

There was a space entered before the Plant ID and that was breaking it. I have fixed it by removing those extra spaces when a tag is created.

Thank you Dave! Great idea!

My image set is not showing up under the Photo Gallery for Hosta 'June'. Confused

I love the feature of stripping spaces out of links!

Is there any automatic feedback when a link is created? Like a color change or a flash or a beep?

Perhaps when a tag is added, it could flash twice if it contains a valid link, but not flash if the tag is just text. Then people would know if they had mistyped.

Is that what the %20 means, a space?

I think so. The ASCII code for "space" is 0x20 in hexadecimal, or 32 in decimal.

An HTML code for "space" is this:

Right, it was a space.

The photo won't appear in the 'June' entry until the tag is edited to have the space removed.
