Serjio.. He has really improved everything about them the 1st one that really caught my eye years ago was (Moonglint) I remember thinking wow he's added wide overlapping falls and ruffles to a luminata and it has show stems Lovey dubby the breakthrough looks like some crosses done in 2011 ..11-162 (Wishes Granted X 05-78A) which is the parent of Moonglint and True Colors it was a sib to Volcanic Glow and almost identical but must have been a better breeder. In the same year you had the 11-59 cross (Arrivderci X 05-78A) which has produced Nevertheless, Netizen, Unstained, & Immaculate heart an amazing abundance of breeding material with endless possibilities which has really lit a fire under me to start working these lines..

if I understand correctly, Keppel's use of Arrivederci has brought good stems and buds to the luminatas, as well as various interesting colors. These are two-color laminatas, fancy-luminatas (with lines on the falls, and some seedlings even have lines on the branded white spot). This is probably a long-term project (at least it took two generations to get seedlings consisting of 3/4 of the luminata's "blood"), and at the same time, this project is already bringing amazing results..
I also liked the new Thomas Johnson luminates obtained from the use of Belle Fille, they also have more growth and more buds, and interesting dramatic colors

I am impressed with your crosses should be some good things in there but especially the number of them you did if I'm reading this right you made 541 crosses last year Thumbs up are you for hire Smiling that's a lot of seedlings to line out.. I certainly tried to do that many seems like I get 1 out of 4 crosses to take sometimes a little better but that's probably a normal for us here .. between Dad and I last year we ended up with 274 crosses with an average of 35 seeds a cross so doing the math if 60% germinate which is about normal will give us about 6000 seedlings to line out in May which will be plenty to babysit for me for the year nodding

yes, I had 560 crosses last season (along with SDB, AB and Siberian ones), but in the end I got only 130 pods with seeds. It could have been a little more, but some of the pods have rotted due to the constant rains. I looked at the calculated seeds in Excel, and it turned out that for 99 pods there are 3499 seeds, that is, also about 35 seeds in one pod)

my favorite in the last group is 14-54B. I love irises with a dark top and descendants of "Mood Ring") 12-16B is also good, it reminds me of irises at the beginning of my fascination with them (Florentine Silk and Ballerina Queen ), they still grow with me.. Apparently, Kate really likes this combination, given the two varieties in such colors from the latest introduction - Canterbury Belle and Satin Ruffles.

I also really liked 17-16C (such a nice combination of pink and purple) and 12-41H

14-54B (Secret Rites X House Arrest) x Mood Ring) I have always liked the purple top pink falls. This one is much more saturated than most so far. I really like it.

We are coming to the end of Keith's plants for the year this group has some things in it that I liked for many years (10-98C) it's done up in the easter dress colors but I think its a bit brighter really stunning upclose..The beards on 18-24A Lovey dubby and on elf the 1st seedlings that I have seen from Gentle Manner 18-29A I have a feeling it's going to be an excellent parent and were trying to do a lot of work with it at home it has such good habits and wonderful form..

Congratulations! You're on your way! Hurray!

Nice color blends on 18-24A (Shouting Match X Dancing Days) X Color Wheel) All set off with that bright red beard!

15-44B sure getting closer to real red I'd say.

Q1-E (Sib to Romany Rogue) is interesting.

(Arrivederci X Don't Stop Believing) crosses make for some nice irises.

What's the pedigree on 17-23A? Nice pink

I don't usually like the combo of blue and yellow but 10-98C is definitely a beauty!

I like 18-24A, too.

18-29A looks a bit crowded. I'd like to see more space in the candelabra

These are amazing seedlings! from such super parents as Color Wheel, Gentle Manner, Arrivederci - this is not surprising!

The Q1U seedling is from the cross that Philippe Remark made, isn't it? it is a pity that he did not see the blooming of his seedlings from this cross. Crying Surely he would be proud of them..

17-23 - everything is beautiful in it, both color, shape, and branching. I have a weakness for pink Rolling my eyes.

The 10-98C reminds me of Keppel's 'Easter Charm'. They must be related. Once I crossed two varieties of Keppel (Alpenview X Mood Ring) and got a seedling with a blue top and light falls with a yellow border.

Is it possible to ask a question not quite on the topic? Have you ever come across six-falled seedlings? When I was reviewing your photos, and I stopped at this seedling with dark styles, I thought that this is a very unusual sign, and it needs to be used somehow.

However, in order for these styles to be visible, it is necessary that the standards be disclosed, and this does not look very nice and is not welcomed by hybridizers. What if there are no standards at all? A light six-falled iris would have done a great job! Since the genes are duplicated here, it would be possible to try crosses with a Thomas Johnson's six-falled (ONE IN A MILLION) plicata. I associate the final result with the Japanese iris 'Jezernik Princezna' (photo from the seller's website). It's just a thought...

Tom.. Thanks they did a wonderful job with the catalog amazing I have a few of my own in a Schreiner's Catalog Lovey dubby ! On Keith's 17-23 I don't have the pedigree here with me on the laptop will update it later for you probably coming from Strawberry Shake..

Sergio.. You are correct the Q1 is Phillip and there are 4 0r 5 more from the cross that are beauties but I don't have there pictures with me .. You are also correct on 10-98C it's pod parent was Easter Candy Smiling the seedling is taller and I think more intense colors it's gorgeous.

With Mood Ring it is a good parent for Dark Tops keep working with it you will get some fun colors from that one as I'm sure your finding out..I have been using a lot of the sibs from it and it's children in crosses not a lot to show yet but should be a bunch of them blooming in May..

On my seedling 20-125A while it was pretty because of the violet styles ..it won't go anywhere or will I do anything with it because of the floppy standards I'm not a fan of them or weak stems and afraid I may breed them onto the next generation if I used it..I have never had a seedling bloom that was a flattie although I know Barry & Thomas has introduced some and from what he told me there popular but there just not something I get excited about ..I'm going the opposite way with the ruffles Smiling

I wanted to start off by sharing some of Thomas's intro's from recent years that bloomed last spring at home all of these were wonderful and many were used in crosses the past couple years he has done an Outstanding job managing all these new intros the past few seasons and really put on a masterclass in Hybridizing with so many fun things to choose from in a wide range of colors and patterns but there are some things he has really excelled in the 1st is the blue bearded pinks there gorgeous.. and his work with lines on the falls seems to get better every year there getting cleaner and brighter but my favorite pattern maybe the that ones that are showing the spot in the falls giving them a pansy look which Im really excited about I think it can lead to some fun new patterns in the future.. so here's some recommendation's of some of his that have done well for me in Iowa

This is another group of recent introductions from Mid America that bloomed last spring that were fantastic the 1st group were intro's from Paul Black which I am excited about some of his later blooming Plicata's and his broken color lines they are really eye catching in the garden and a giant leap forward from some of the older lines..

The 2nd group is recent intro's of Barry Blyth's that Thomas has introduced for him once again a huge Thank You to Thomas for doing that and giving us a chance to grow and work with some more of Barry's plants ! There were quite a few crosses done with these and excited for the results in the coming years.
