It did not bloom, Zellycat. The buds got frozen.

I agree, Jushi is awesome!
Zellycat, my Danse bloomed the second year. It seems like a good peony.

Zellycat, the only place I've seen Dakota Girl was at the APS Convention Flower show. Here is the photo I took:

The description on Solaris is really good.

Wow, that's gorgeous, LG! Your photo and the color of this TP are so much more attractive than the one shown on Solaris website. Upon seeing this pic, if more room opens up when I clear my compost pile, I am very tempted to add this to my garden. This is just the sort of intense and deep color that I like.

Here's my Danse Du Feu bloom this past spring.

I have Dakota Girl. It bloomed the first year, didn't last year but looked pretty good. Hoping for this year. The color on mine was amazing but the bloom was fairly small and more single than I'd like, it didn't face down but that's probably because of the undersized bloom. That plant was named for Linette Sorrentino.

I've found that Nate is an amazing hybridizer but is even worse with a camera than I am! I don't know how many times I've blown right by a plant on Solaris because of the picture but went back and ordered because I saw one taken by someone else! Guess it doesn't matter, he sells out most of the time anyway!

Oh wow thanks for the pic, that's gorgeous! I might need to tear up lawn for those two - and get bold about ordering from peony shop when it's available again.

My resolve not to order is weakening.
Parkland Peonies just opened.
They have Martagon lilies too.

Interesting, if you look up Monrovia's website, they have a great selection of itohs. Many of the older itohs have a Garden Candy trademark and have been renamed. Common practice with peonies.

I just saw that, Gary. There are 10 Smith Opus peonies listed. These 3 I'm interested in.

Can I ask if anyone can identify Don Smith's current peonies that resemble the above offerings? I already have Magical Mystery Tour, Smith Family Jewel, and Singing in the Rain. I don't want to duplicate a peony. These Monrovia ones are $175 for a 3.6 gal pot.

I do like these pink/yellow blends. Your input will enable me to beautify my garden, hopefully for the price of a bare root. For example, Brandamore Specialties has Scrum… for $50. Maybe I can wait the 3-4 years. Peony gardeners have patience down to an art, right?

I would guess Scrumptious is Scrum, too. I'm curious what the other two are as well - I don't recognize them.

It's been a while since I've seen mine big enough to bloom with side buds but my first thought on the first pic was Singling in the Rain, Creme a La Orange for the 2nd. Much less confident on the 2nd as mine only bloomed once or twice before moving from CO and I'm not even sure wheee it is in AL. Think you're right about the 3rd Zellycat.

Caroline, you're in a red mood! I love Red Charm - makes great cut flowers. Scarlet O'hara is probably the tallest red in my garden. HB is gorgeous! Had to look up Lois Arleen - looks like a beautiful red.

Wow, that's COLD! Do cars work in such cold temps? I guess zero by your standard is not bad. Sticking tongue out
