Lol a lot has happened in this tread since I was last here. So cool to see all the new messages Sue I am your neighbor I live in forestville about 10 min outside Sebastopol and now you have given me some new nurseries to check out. I go to harmony farms a lot just down the road from me will check out Peacock for sure I have driven past them a million times but never stopped in. I love your pictures so nice to see all your beautiful plants. I really need to get some photos taken for you all I have been buying some semps around town and then get them home and look them up they are not in the best color but some look really nice bulging out of there pots. I think I may have purchased some that are misnamed but maybe when I get them photographed some of you here can let me know what you think. As for my containers I have a few that I made months ago that I have planted not with semps but other succulents and I have almost 20 more curing and it will be a few weeks until I can leech them and start to plant in them. Maybe I should just get some before and after photos just so you can see what I am up too. I am a bit obsessed this has happened with me before. What got me to this latest place is I am a glass artist and make glass cactus a few weeks ago I took my cactus to sell at the San Francisco cactus and succulent society show lol I sold not one of my cactus was just not the right venue for them but spent all day buying plants and asking questions. I have grown many kinds of plants in the past been involved in many plant clubs over the years so I have been in this place before. I have been determined to grow lithops again for the last 8 months or so still hit and miss with them but doing better than I ever have with them.

Ok I guess now I am just rambling sorry I am glad to be here and thanks again for the nice welcome.

More to come,

John

Ok sorry forgot to ask a question.
Some of the new semps I have gotten are really bulging out of there pots I want to transplant them but also would like to remove some of the chicks I am not sure but I seem to have read here it is better to do that in the spring. So my question is it ok to remove chicks and transplant now and can you do it all year or is it better to try and get that all done in spring.

Thank, John

It's OK to remove them now, but they will be happiest if they've already started to develop their own root system. If they have, then go for it!

When you're taking pictures, be sure to take some of your glass cactus too - they sound awesome!!

I agree

I also agree with Sue, in your zone you can do it year round, but does work better if they have started developing their own roots.

Sue, what fun it would be to visit that garden. Lovey dubby

Great glad to hear I can plant the babies when ever I will look for the ones with roots. I love Lone pine nursery.

Well it has been pouring rain today kinda strange for this time of year so I decided to take a few photos. a little over exposed because of the flash but a start anyway. Sorry I did not see the request for the glass cactus I already put the cam away but will get you some soon,

Hope this it is ok to post pics of other plants that are not semps in this tread.

Let me know what you think,

John

This plant was named "Rojin" but not seeing any semp with that name so not sure if it is misnamed.

There is a semp by the name Rogin, and checking with the Horst Dheim site yours looks to be Rogin. It is probably a typing error. Easy to do. Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Rogin')

Red Cobweb might be correct. Under different conditions it can be missing the webbing. Can you give us a close up? And you won't need to downsize the photos, our ATP system will do that for you. That way when we click on the photo to enlarge it, it will give us a nice close up of the plant attributes.

Growing conditions can affect the openess/closed appearance of the arach. S. 'Forest Frost'.

Your Bronco is lovely. Smiling

Wow, you have quite a nice collection of plants John. And how sweet the lithops seedlings are. Lovey dubby

Thanks guys good to hear that maybe the plants may be named correctly I will try to get some close ups of red cobweb tomorrow.

Yes the rain has been very strange today but the plants are loving it so makes me happy.

Glad you like the pictures of the lithops that was just one pot I took a quick picture of as it was sitting in the same area that I was taking pictures I went a little nuts and have about 10 more pots of lithops seedlings. I am hoping raising them from seed they will only know my conditions and maybe be a little more willing to grow I can't tell you how many lithops I have killed over the years.

Great photos John! I have 2 lithops in the process of dying, I don't have any ideas of what to do, just watching them slowly continue to dislike whatever conditions I create for them! And here in Seattle it is still a bit chilly for them to be out all night Sticking tongue out (so they're indoors under growlights)
I have bronco also and love it! Its a newish one for me and it is so pretty! Thumbs up
Cheers I tip my hat to you.

Guys, sounds to me like John will be making up for all of you that have witnessed dying lithops in your care by his giving and supporting life of "10 more pots of lithops seedlings..." Whistling
