They are quite eye catching & I'm happy to say we have LOTS of them here! I looked them up & it seems their favorite host plant is the pawpaw:

and there is an entire field of it behind our house & down about 10 or 12 acres. The field is quite large; consisting of what I would guess must be around 15 acres so I assume that's where they are coming from.

I had never seen them before now & of course knew by the tail that they were swallowtails but had to look them up to determine which. That red underneath the wings flashes as they fly & we've really been enjoying watching them.

Monarch's are still visiting the Tropical Milkweed and the past few days I've spotted White Peacock Butterflies on the Lantana. My book Butterflies of Florida says the White Peacock is a stray in this area from the southern part of the state ... they are very welcome in my garden.

J: Very nice; you have so many butterflies! I've only seen a smattering of them around here so far this year. Love both the Cabbage White and the Admiral!

Marilyn: That yellow Lantana is 'New Gold' which is said to be sterile and will not spread like the very invasive Lantana camara that takes over everything down here in Florida!
