We are getting the usual for this time of year... rain, rain, and more rain. I have a couple of lily beds that have been under water on and off for weeks.

Almost all of my Asiatic lilies are poking out and the slugs and snails have been real busy Grumbling .

Sorry to hear of the damage, Connie. How well do the bulbs tolerate the intermittent flooding?

Joshua, surprisingly some take it quite well. I'll know later when I figure out which ones are no-shows. But as I said above, most of the Asiatics are already emerging, and in particular the Robert Griesbach Asiatic seedlings that I planted last fall are blasting out like rocket ships Hurray! ! Big fat noses Green Grin! .

A couple more pictures of the one I call 'Cotton Candy'. It has a tendency to fuse bud. Kind of an old fashion rose or apple blossom color. The tiny color block splotches visible on the photo is not a virus; the petals were stuck together upon opening so I gently separated them with a tooth pick and that left the marks.

Here's one people call 'Black Cherry'. Quite similar to the 'Cotton Candy' but has white face and larger, rounded sepals.

Thanks, Ginny G. It turns out that I made crosses of both of them to the pink one shown below. Hopefully, I'll have some first blooms to look at this summer. I'd like to get a bud count of twenty plus each on those two. Crossing Fingers!

Chocolate over Peaches. A Brian Bergman hybrid.

Three bulbs planted in the Fall of 2015 looked like this today. Two double noses and one triple nose plus some offsets. A hardy, good looking plant.

L. michiganense babies 'in the wild'. I took this picture today about 20 feet from my property line. The pod parents haven't nosed up yet. I found the original stems still standing--but no noses yet, anyway. This one is a nice darker red variety.

First one of the year. Mushroom hunting is a big deal for some around here and morels like this one is a Spring favorite. They are delicious. I propped it up in a pot with a seedling for a picture.

Plenty moisture throughout the Upper Midwest. I had 4.62 inches of rain in March and 6.64 inches in April. That's 11.26 inches in two months. Soil temperature is running at 52'F. But air temperatures have been cool, almost chilly and with a sharp breeze most of the time. We need some warm nights. Crossing Fingers!

Wow Lorn,

That one is a jumbo, looks like it could feed a family of four. Hopefully, you enjoyed having it for dinner!

I've only seen a few dozen or so morels in my entire lifetime, but I have never seen a round one before. Is that common?
