Porkpal, do you ever throw the giant zukes to the cows? We've had heifers that would fight over them - often one on either end eating their way to the middle.

The pigs are closer to the vegetable garden so they have traditionally been the benefactors. Today the cows rejected Jack fruit donated by a friend. Apparently the cows in India savor it. Many of my ladies have Brahma blood, but not enough I guess. Perhaps zucchini would be more to their liking.

Well they sometimes advertise the fact quite loudly at feeding time - but it's me they are happy to see, of course.

pigs have a wide range of emotion, often cross current with the human that is trying to work with them, they are, after all, cloven hooved...
(I think I used my daily quota of commas in that)

I have one thing to say about pigs..............when there are those that say they are the Einsteins of the barnyard, it is apparant that those people have NEVER had to work with pigs. I have never in my life seen anything SO stupid. Grumbling

Trust me............I worked with pigs enough years to know in about any situation you could think of.

I believe that individual pigs are smart. In large groups, however, they become totally demented.

And then there are the pigs that are kept as pets. Some even in the house! Of course they are different breeds than the farm pigs that we eat but I see any pig as potential dinner. Honestly the idea of a pet pig does not appeal to me. Give me a dog or cat for a pet any day.

I wish chickens made good house pets but that is not so. Of course you can use a chicken diaper but that just makes me laugh. But really it is the chicken dust or dander or whatever they call it that is just not good for you inside the house.

We have brooded chicks in the house and they do create amazing amounts of dust - orphaned piglets - not so much...

I had chicks in the house also. I wish they didn't make the dust. Would have kept them in the house forever if that was the case. Hilarious!
