I checked them today and there are new leaves on both cuttings! Yay!

I'm surprised these plants aren't more popular. I don't think there are many plants with such huge blooms that can be seen from miles away. Rolling on the floor laughing The hummingbirds seem to go mad for these too. I know a spot that needs to have a few of these. I have rooted about 5 different varieties. I hope they all over-winter!

I think a lot of people in my area think they're still a tropical plant that needs to be brought in for the winter. I've had several ask me where I keep them in the winter and are surprised when they realize that they're hardy for our zone.

I heard today that we have a horrible Caterpillar that is showing up in a lot of places. When I looked it up I found that it loves Hibiscus and Palms. I have big, red, Hibiscus and I am not going near it now. A person on facebook responding to an announcement from a local nursery got stung when she went to pick off what she thought was a strange leaf. Very bad....

The Saddleback Caterpillar

Saddleback caterpillars are truly obnoxious to the touch. Covered in stiff spines that are housed in potent poison glands, they are aggressive and sting when touched, however unintentional the contact. This can result in immediate swelling of the affected area, severe nausea and a nasty rash that takes days to clear up. These nasty creatures love hibiscus and palm plants, so be very aware.

Hi everyone, I'm new. Hardy hibiscus are my favorite flower of all time. I love all colors but red is my favorite. I've been growing them for about 5/6 years. I'm making a hibiscus bed next Spring. I look forward to next year to see everyone's photos. Below are some of my lovely hardy hibiscus.
