Weeks has changed hands and I'd be surprised if the new owners knew anything about anything. Hilarious! In fact, I'm surprised that Weeks claims it. It was registered as a Jackson & Perkins rose.

I was going to suggest Jack Christensen's web page, but it looks as though it hasn't been updated in years. Some of the vendors he lists for Brass Band are no longer in business.

I deeply regretted leaving my beautiful big one behind when I sold my home 4 years ago, since the new owners have let the entire garden go to weeds and dry out. Crying I am hovering over my prized cutting that currently has it's first bloom opening, watching carefully for any changes on that single stem! I just loved photographing that rose!

My Brass Band is looking puny, so I was planning on replacing it with another Brass Band. I was just sure Edmunds carried it! Guess I'm going to baby the one I have, and hopefully move it back on to my top ten list. I love frilly orangish-pink blossoms.
If it doesn't make it, I'll put Anna's Promise in that spot. Too bad Palatine doesn't carry Anna's Promise, or any of the newer Weeks intros.

Thank you Zuzu for trying to help me - appreciate it. I'll continue my quest using different avenues. Perhaps I will find someone to provide me with a piece to root - ya never know - maybe I'll have beginners luck - lol.
Sue, I know exactly how you feel. When I sold my home I asked the buyer if I could take a few plants. She said, "Oh no I love the garden, it's beautiful". I did a drive by past my home a few yrs. later only to see everything was leveled to the ground - so sad. Well, I learned my lesson, don't look back, look forward.

Perhaps it was a blessing that none of us purchased Osiria. Have you read the post on the Rose Garden Web? Subject: "Osiria Rose HELP!!!"

I just read it. I really can't understand how someone could recommend Love as a substitute for Osiria. It's similar to Osiria in coloring, as dozens of other roses are, but not nearly as exciting. Osiria's petals are scalloped and ruffled, and they're completely different from Love's. As for Fire 'n' Ice, there's hardly any comparison at all. It's a much smaller bloom and it also has petals exhibiting no scalloping or ruffles. Both Love and Fire 'n' Ice look quite plain in comparison with Osiria, and they also don't have Osiria's strong fragrance.

I'm sorry to hear that the grafted Osiria doesn't grow well. I've had an own-root Osiria from Roses Unlimited for about six years. The blooms are breathtakingly beautiful, but the bush itself would not win any beauty contest. I was blaming its flaws on the lack of a vigorous rootstock and was really excited about replacing my drippy-looking rose bush with a grafted one.

I guess they were just trying to comfort the woman that wanted the Osiria. And their suggestions were based solely on color and not form.
I wanted to ask you about russet roses. I can't locate a source for Brownie. What do you think of Beautiful Anne (rogue valley) and Coffee Country (roses unlimited)? I spoke with a rep from RU and she thought coffee country was healthier than Julia's rose which they also offer. Any thoughts?

I bought Brownie about 10 years ago from Ashdown, which is now out of business. I don't remember seeing it offered by any other nursery. It was on the list at Vintage Gardens, but I never saw them offer any for sale.

I've never seen Beautiful Anne. It's too bad it isn't being sold by any other nursery. I have several Paul Barden roses that are healthy and vigorous, but they all came from The Uncommon Rose, which is now out of business. The ones I've bought from Rogue Valley haven't lived long. I like his roses, so I've bought about 10 of them from Rogue Valley, and only one of them (Won Fang Yon) lived for more than a year. The Uncommon Rose had better rooting techniques, I guess. All of those are still alive.

Coffee Country is a gorgeous rose, and it does grow very well on its own roots. It's certainly more vigorous than my Julia's Rose, but I think Julia's Rose came from Vintage Gardens, and most of their roses never grew as well as the ones from Roses Unlimited.

I still remember the day I first saw Osiria! I agree with Zuzu, so much prettier than the others mentioned.

Look at those gorgeous recurved petals! I'm so glad I have this rose, even if it is a ratty-looking bush.

Zuzu I think it is striking. No comparison to Fire n Ice and Snowfire. You are most fortunate to have this in your possession.

Today is the last day to order for fall delivery. I've gone through their listings over and over to see if I missed anything.
Jolie Veranda
Sweet Victoria
Dream Land
Antike 89 replacement
Leonardo de Vinci
Red Riding Hood Fairy Tale
Sherry Parks Sunrise
Sweet Jane
Super Dorothy
Philatelie
Susan Schneider
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Red Intuition replacement, have killed it 3 times now
Frau Karl Druschki

Red Corsair looks like it would be a great one to grow on our fence. It's a split-rail white fence, and it would take 30 roses to cover it properly, so I'll have to wait a few years for that to fit in my budget. I wanted Julia's Rose and Brigadoon, but both sold out. I ordered Angel Veranda a few years ago, and discovered this summer that mine is a mislabeled Monte Carlo Country Club. I am sure of this because my other Monte Carlo Country Club is just a few feet away! I wish I had noticed this sooner. This is the only instance where Palatine has sent me a mislabeled rose.
i thought about ordering a 2nd Summer Sun since that one is so beautiful.

Are there any on this list that are really not good roses? I realize they perform differently in different places.
Or any great ones that I missed?
I went through the catalog and marked the ones I already have--85 of my very best roses. Most were purchased from Palatine. Guess I'm a good customer. Lovey dubby
I'm crossing my fingers about planting in the fall. Spring is sooo unpredictable here, except for the winds. That is a sure thing. Fall is usually calmer. Lovey dubby

I couldn't figure out why I wasn't finding my list in this thread, but then I saw that it's the 2013 thread. Big Grin

Here's this year's thread, Cindy:
