Heirloom freesias (freesia alba) are my absolute all-time fav. Just recently found some corms online and planted them in a container on my balcony. Can't wait to smell them! The hybrids don't come close that I've smelled so far.

Ballerina Tulip, mainly because when there are a few you can smell the fragrance nearby in the air, rather than having to sniff them. I'm looking forward to the fragrance of the Philadelphus that looks like it's ready to flower this year. Night-scented stock was amazing the only time I grew it. It filled the air so much the fragrance wafted into the open bedroom windows. I couldn't believe it, I thought at first it was the neighbour's washing that she'd left out (seemingly having used an overdose of conditioner!)

Daphne
Chinese fringe tree and in the day time the very unusual spicy scent of caryopteris dark knight will waft over unexpectedly

Edgeworthia looks really interesting, it's flowers are scented in winter. Right now I've got a potted Red Pixie lilac in bud - I'm looking forward to the fragrance coming over.

Love, love, love this time of year. I sit out in the evenings and let the fragrances waft through the breeze. Still my favorite, the pot of fragrant petunias. Wonderful at dusk and early mornings. Lovey dubby

Just about every one of my herbs has a distinct fragrance ranging from sharp to sweet

Lilies are too cloying for me, and I get zero fragrance from sarcococca (faulty nose I guess, everyone else raves about it)

Southernwood is an artemisia, also known as Old Man. It's very ferny looking, with soft feathery foliage that smells really fresh, kind of lemony. It is a good moth repellant, dried and put into sachets with wool sweaters and such.

I absolutely agree.

My favs are lilacs. Does anyone have any tip how to save the frangnance for a bit longer (say, to put it in the purse or wardrobe)? I was trying to put it between two pieces of fabric, but it doesn't work. Confused

The usual way of drying flowers is to pick them just after the dew has dried (according to something I read YEARS ago) and hang them upside down somewhere dry and out of sunlight (airing cupboard?).
They are edible, so you could have a go at candying them Smiling

My Philadelphus has flowered, but they don't smell of anything - any suggestions? I was looking forward to it and it is full of the little flowers, in full bloom and still in bud and anywhere in between. When I had a sniff, it was a warm day in the lower to middle 20s celsius.

Hate to tell you, but there are some that sadly don't have a fragrance. My next door neighbor has one. Blooms beautifully, but never any aroma. *Blush* Sighing!

Oh dear. It's really the only reason I got it, and I'd been looking forward to it growing and flowering properly for a couple of years. It's just as well you have to be patient and able to withstand disappointments as a gardener - it's not the first thing that's gone wrong for me and I'm sure it won't be the last. At least it looks very pretty. Smiling

Look up Sweet Almond tree. Large shrub/ small tree. Pretty clusters of white flowers, off and on constantly in the south. I think it is hardy to zone 7. Smells like dryer sheets , or Jergens lotion. I had it growing near my driveway so my entryway smelled divine!
