I love 4" spiders. Does anyone know of a source?? This is Gadsden Firefly.

This one is not registered as a "true spider" but a UF. It grows so well for me. I will post a flower, then another shot showing branching.

Red Spider Mite - Dorothy Warrell, 2003, height 28", bloom 4", season M, Dormant, Diploid, 21 buds, 5 branches, UFo Cascade , Bright red self

and branching - this was not a large clump... it has wonderful branching.

Dottie's one of my very favorite hybridizers. She actually got me started into daylily addiction years and years ago.

That's wonderful, too. I only have a handful of hers but always like her hybrids.

When I first started in daylilies I have to admit I did not care for Spider or UF's at all. But suddenly late 2008 they really started to appeal to me. It will be nice to be able to find photos and discussion about them here in one spot!

I think spiders grow on you, I did not really like them much at all a few years back. I do love the older spiders . and tend to lend towards the pinks and dk purples.


STARMAN'S QUEST, like it in the morning by afternoon that pretty dark eye pretty well disappears in full sun.

The spiders and UF's are what made me fall in love with daylilies in the first place. I've sense expanded my taste to include other forms, but the spiders and Uf's remain my favorites.

Oh me too boojum. And would you believe that was a first year bloom and still in a pot, no less? Can't wait to see what it does this year.

This is ALDERSGATE Temple 2005 (dip) the largest daylily we grow. Its registered at 16 inchs but has a lot of 18 and 20 inch blooms. The largest I have seen is 24 inchs. I now have a tet conversion that Dan Trimmer did for me and will see seedlings bloom from it this year.

Anyone know what the largest flowered named daylily is to date?

Fred - that is HUGE! Do the scapes stand up with blooms that big?

I had no idea they could get that large. Wow. I bet that's really impressive in the garden.

Love the spiders and most UF's but those that look like RoundUp mist hit them are a bit too much for me LOL
