Spiders and ufo's are my absolute favorite and that is what I mainly hybridize. I have two favorite seedlings from last summer. #1 is Lighthouse Satin Slipper x Skinwalker. This one had lots of diamond dusting on it.

I just absolutely love your work Cindy. Love your taste in daylilies. You have taste like mine.
You're going to get so tired of hearing this. I say it every time you post one of your seedlings huh? Rolling my eyes.

Thanks Joy. It's really just hit and miss. Sometimes you just happen to get a keeper. That's why it is so much fun. I am trying to use a lot of the older plants in hybridizing with the newer ones. My experience has been that a lot of newer ones don't increase well while the older ones do. By combining their genetics maybe I can make a hardier new plant with good increase.

This is my favorite spider seedling so far. This was its second bloom. I moved it at the end of last (rainy) summer to a sunnier and more exposed spot to see how it does.

Dorothy -- your seedling and my seedling need to find a way to get together! This one is from crossing a Dottie Warrell with one of Curt Hanson's dip seedlings.

It branches wonderfully, and is very showy in a clump. I split it up last year, to see how it increases, thinking it might be introduction material.

I've been trying to stick to dormants and things that are hardy and productive in my zone 4. Curt doesn't guarantee anything below zone 5, I think... IT makes it easier to pick things when you know a lot's not going to thrive here.

That's why Shores of Time, Sister of Praise, and Margo Reed Indeed are favorites. They have been outstanding in the cold.

I'll see how the seedling above does.

Great thread! UFs are what got me into daylilies, along with Munson purples with watermarks! I got a seedling of Dottie Warrell's a few years ago that she said she would never introduce because it was too weird for her. It changes form after it's been in the same spot undisturbed for a couple years. I'm putting it's pollen on tall white UFs. Here is a pic when newly transplanted:

Cindy, that fuchsia seedling is outstanding! (The other one's awfully nice, too, but that clear dark pink just calls to me....)

That pink is gorgeous! I love Margo Reed Daylilies anyway. Love your Dottie Warrell seedling too. I love a flower that changes form. I have some that do that. Each time they bloom they can look a bit different then the time before. They're new plants so I don't yet know if they'll continue to do that but, I'm hoping they will.
