When I get a magazine from one of the Dutch wholesalers I throw it away before it even gets inside the house. What a pain trying to prove to them they sent the wrong daylilies. After sending them pictures they admitted it was not what I ordered. They replaced them the next year, but again sent me the wrong ones. Sent me a second replacement the following year, but they haven't bloomed yet so I don't know if they got it right or not. This has taken three growing seasons. Meanwhile I have dozens of Moonlit Masquerade and so far no Destined to See. They also told me they won't replacement them again, even if they're still wrong.

Well, that is a pretty crappy policy. They can't get it right, but they won't replace anymore.

I can sympathize with you Diana, I will never order from Veseys or Breck's again. I have a lot of NOIDs, not what they were supposed to be at all. I was also supposed to have 'Destined to See', but it looks like I am not destined to see it anytime soon!!! Hilarious!

My nemesis is Van Bourgondien. One purchase was one too many for me. I bought 12 of them too. They should all go back to Holland and stay out of the US market place! We have enough rip-off artists of our own to deal with.

I did that too on Matt this year. It appreciated it and, for once, the bloom was decent looking. It's still on borrowed time though.

I have Prairie blue eyes. I just don't like it. It will probably go eventually once space runs out entirely. I know some folks love it but it just washes out so badly for me. By the time I come home from work it just looks bad, at least to me. It is extremely vigourous though.

I also have Mormon. I love the bright color but it always blooms down in the foliage. The form is variable from one day to the next, but I kinda like that, I just wish the scapes were taller. It will probably go eventually too.

Johnny Cash has been here 3 years with no bloom or increase. I moved it this fall to a prime location where every plant I've ever had there has performed. It did start to increase from one fan and now has a baby fan too. If it doesn't give me at least one more fan and/or a bloom next year it will have to go. The only reason it's stayed here this long is I spent too much on it not to see it! Grumbling Sad

Kim I actually like it when they don't increase to fast because I then can put it in the perennial garden...

Yes, Matt is not a good plant, or pretty. It lasted long enough to bloom a few blooms then got shovel pruned.

oh it can be beautiful but first you have to go through alot of really ugly blooms before you get to the nice ones and then I think the weather has to just right. It is a fussy plant.
But you are right it is not a good plant, a good plant would have perfect blooms from day 1.

Does anyone have problems David Kirchhoff being all splotchy and deformed looking?

Thumb of 2011-02-11/kathysflowerpatch/96760c This one is perfect from day 1 at least for me . It is Kiss My Grits, a Sunday Sandal baby. Always wanted S S but could never afford it, funny I got it's baby cheaper and its got larger flowers too!

Does anyone have Valley Monster? It was new for me last year and was splotchy alot. In fact I don't think one bloom was clear. However the blooms are very large, open well, have good substance, were tall on the scape, and had a strong sweet scent that I loved. So I gave in and decided to keep it another year and see what it does.

I have trouble with Fringed Catawba being splotchy too.

Rita, I LOVED the Velvet Eyes you sent me. It bloomed beautiful and is definitely on my list to move to OK with me this fall!

My Fringed Catawba was spotty the first year but have not had problems since then. My rebloom was fantastic on it. This is the only daylily that I crossed that every seedling sprouted .

I would give VM another year, hopefully it will shape up for you.
