I have South Seas, and it's another one that will always stay. I love the color! Actually, I can't imagine getting rid of any that I have now, even if they don't do great. I'll just move them out of they hybridizing area instead of getting rid of them. I weeded out a bunch of them a couple of years ago, but sent them to live with my Dad so that I could get them back if I had regrets!

I too have South Seas and love it - it was a birthday gift & purchased from a local nursery. Both Wild Horses & South Seas will stay in my garden too. Especially since neither of them are ones I have had to "baby". I will baby a daylily for a year - perhaps two - but then, I let it go. That happened to Tusk. I got a single small fan, that then got rot - saved it from that, but in three years it never increased even though I babied it. I ignored it this year - and now it's gone.

Freewheeling is following Tusks form - although it definitely did lots better last year - I don't think it likes the cool weather and copious amounts of rain.

Charles Johnston is a bloom I love, I will try moving it one more time - I never seem to get it where it is visible- this one scapes a foot lower for me than registered. It gets one more chance.

Natalie - good idea transplanting them to your Dad's!! ~Jan

I have wild horses and It always performs well for me and grows fine. But that was in zone 5b. I wonder if it doesn't like the warmer zones?

Mine was growing in zone 5a. I've moved to zone 7b since then, so I'll see how it does. It sure didn't like something at the last house because it wasn't happy!

It took two years to bloom here, I am hoping it is fantastic next year. I love the bloom, would have liked more this year, but that's OK. I can handle it It's a keeper for me

Wild Horses is doing great, it's multiplying, it looks healthy, but so far this season no sign of a scape, sure not too warm for it in my 3a zone. Glare

I'm finding I don't like the really tall ones much. I'm short, just a hair off from being 5'. I take photos of all my blooms everyday and it's hard to get a good photo when they're towering over my head. I prefer a bloom that I have to look down to see.

That makes sense Cindy. It's good that daylilies come in all sizes. Smiling

I agree It's just like people!!! How boring it would be if all daylilies and people were the same size!

I really like tall ones, but I have only a couple, but none are over 3 feet. I'm only 5' 3", which is pretty short, but I'd love to find some that I can look eye to eye with! Some are supposed to be taller, but they never have been for me. I've used seaweed fertilizer this year, and some are taller than they have been in the past. Hopefully next year they will be even better!

Eye to eye wouldn't be so bad, unless the bloom is looking up. Hilarious!

Hilarious! They do tend to look up, don't they! Okay, just a little shorter than me would be perfect!

I found that I don't like daylilies that bloom down in the foliage.

Handsome Ross Carter is one of those. I have had it since 2009 (a freebie) and have never liked it, but did not get rid of it because... well, because I just couldn't stand to throw away a daylily. My daughter saw it a few weeks ago and loved it! I said, "really!, it's yours". As soon as they get their landscape project going, it is gone.

Siloam Double Classic may do better next year, but I was very disappointed when it bloomed down in the foliage this year. The blooms are so pretty.

That's what scissors are for if you like a daylily - I have been known to trim the leaves a bit Whistling
