The mix I'm trying now for starting seeds and transplanting seedlings into is 2/3 oil dry (diatomaceous earth) and 1/3 plain potting soil. I learned about it on another forum.

Hi, I am new to this forum, but I wanted to tell Adam "Great Job!" on all his germination success! How are your A. polyphylla doing? I have just germinated 3 seeds in water, transferred to seedling pots and am nervously waiting to see if I killed them or not. Whistling

Kate,
Welcome. That is one way to germinate Aloe poly seeds. Sounds like you are doing a fine job. Now is the wait. It seems like forever to see them grow. They do like more water than most aloes. If possible show us some pictures next time.

Thanks! Adam, your polyphylla looks terrific. You are gifted with these unusual, young plants of yours!

Stush, I could take a picture...but it's just a pot full of media....if they pop up, I will be sure to post a pic right away!

I have a titanopsis that I bought back in February...it has not grown or changed in any way, shape or form. Like he doesn't really want to live, but doesn't feel like dying, either. What do you think it wants??

I just realized it would probably be helpful if I talked about its growing conditions...it's in a garden with Sanseveira that's mostly sand, topsoil, and some crushed seashells on top. Sunshine all day long...typical FL humidity and heat.

I did't soak my Adansonia digitata(a species of baobab tree) seed long enough. They usually pass though the digestive system of an elephant or similar animal. So I had to peel the rest of the seed coat off because it was unable to get all of the way out on it's own.

I was doing this over the sink and I dropped it in the garbage disposal by accident. Crying And I was like oh no. Then I spent about 20 minutes on getting it out.

I was so glad when I got it out luckly it was a large seedling. Hurray! Then I rinsed it off and potted it up.

Here is a pic.
