Oh boy -- just read through this entire thread because it's too wet outside to go work in the garden, I'm tired from having overnight houseguests this weekend, and what better thing to do than read something new on ATP ! This SO makes me want to try growing some of these succulent seeds... I love starting plants from seed! And Clivia was mentioned.... I would love to have that plant, every time I've ever seen one it's been ridiculously expensive. So, can anyone tell us their "favorite ebay seller" (or sellers) for these types of seeds? I've bought lots of things on ebay, but have been burned once or twice and seeds seem a particularly likely thing that could be unsatisfactory. Or did you just go by their ratings?

Adam, Stush, and everyone else -- thanks for so much good information on growing these plants from seed!! Smiling

Sandy,
Welcome aboard. I too grew clivia from seed before. I used to get them from some guy in China but I can't seem to get ahold of him. There was another seller from China selling Clivia seeds. I purchased 10 seeds for something like $10 including shipping. Any way, 8 germinated and only one was variegated. They still haven't grew their 2nd. true leaf yet. I have been quite lucky with seeds from China. My current Aloe Poly seeds have germinated almost 50% so far. Still more sprouting every day. So go ahead a take a chance with China. So far so good. And they were way cheaper than U.S. Sadly to say.

Your welcome stush2019. Hilarious!
Here is an update.
I have 5 pachypodium brevicaule seedlings that are doing well.
One is inside and four are outside. I plan to keep the one that is inside as a house plant and one of the outside ones outside.

If anybody wants the other three when they get big enough to ship all you have to pay is postage.

Adam, have read all your posts you have had here about the Spiral Aloe seeds and seen the pictures of them as they grew. What kind of soil do you use, and do you mist your plants ? Thank You!

I can answer that one Linda.
I use my mister more than I use any other means of watering my seedlings. Just the right amount of water with out over doing it.
Welcome! again.

Hi Linda Welcome! Hope you enjoy this site - I joined a couple of years ago, and its been great fun, and educational of course!
I began using a mix of regular potting soil - 40% + 60% pumice (which I bought on Amazon) this is turning out to be a great mix!! (the soil I bought from Home depot, just their cheap stuff) Thumbs up I tip my hat to you.

Today I repotted my Aloe dichotoma and Pachypodium brevicaule seedlings in a mix of equal parts perlite, oil dry, and natural aquarium gravel in some styrofoam cups I shortened some.

Finding flower pots is a drag. I am planning to order 90 each 2 x 2 pots. I also need some 4 x 4 pots next spring. I like the square ones due to not to easy to fall over like the round ones.

Adam,
Be prepared for extra slow growth. Mine hybrid Aloe seedling are still very tine for being a year old. My Dyckia platyphylla and Hechtia Special mix plants are almost one year old and are about 1/4 inch high with maybe 4 leaves each. My Haworthia F1, F2 hybrids, maybe 3 months. 2 out of 30 seeds germinated and so tiny that it also will be years before I can transplant.
The Aloe poly seeds are growing fast and passing the others. Now about 2-1/2 months old. 50 out of 100 seeds.
Good luck my friend.

This is the second time I've planted Aloe suzannae seeds. The first time I planted 5 seeds not one came up. This time I'm trying 16 seeds . Hopefully some will come up.
yea I've read that they are extremely slow growing. That's one of the things I love about this species. I also like the inflorescence and the rosette. Lovey dubby

This seed growing thing sure is slooow. My seedlings are barely growing, thinking of using a lil osmocote to speed things up. I spray them with water twice a day, in bright shade. What am I doing wrong? Should I move them somewhere with a bit of sun or add a lil osmocote?

Well I got depressed and ordered more seed today.
Euphorbia knutii
TITANOPSIS MIX
ALOINOPSIS MIX

from the last batch
Some Monilaria Moniliformis sprouted.
None of the Pachypodium brevicalyx sprouted yet.
None of the Tylecodon paniculatus yet.
I ordered some Tylecodon reticulatus when I ordered those but they were from overseas so they haven't arrived yet.

Also Spitz you don't want to use fertilizer on them too early it's not good for them.
A lot of succulent seedlings are really slow to grow.
