Nice blooms everyone.
Betty, I really like Winter Orchid.
Laura, I love the color of Flamingo Parade

I haven't had a chance to take any photos the past couple of days. We had the Mobile daylily show today and tomorrow is the Pensacola show so I've been busy. I'm going to brag on Fred; he won Best in Show with LILLIAN'S WOMAN'S TOUCH today. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

And Laura, every time I see FLAMINGO PARADE I ooh and aah! Love it!

And CONGRATULATIONS TO FRED!!! Do you or does he have any pictures from the shows?

Ok Betty, here are some photos of the Mobile show. They aren't that great because we had it at the mall and some of the flowers blend in with the background and makes it hard to see them. I will get some better pictures of the Pensacola show.

If anyone is ever hesitant about entering shows because they don't have the newest daylilies, don't be. There were a lot of older cultivators with purple and blue awards.

Fred's "Best In Show" with LILLIAN'S WOMAN'S TOUCH. That's Nancy Faulk and one of the judges behind it. The fountain gets in the way of seeing the daylily good. Grumbling

I got "Best Extra Large Flower" with SPANISH SKETCH, a 1989 daylily.

Michele, thank you so much for posting those pictures! Unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about a daylily show, so I don't know what a purple ribbon means. Is it a "Best ..." award, or a second place and the blue is first place? I have to say that I am very impressed by the number of daylilies entered -- amazing! And the "off scape" display looks really fantastic -- is that part of the competition, or just a display to show off the flowers? Maybe I'll find a daylily show sometime somewhere so I can see what it's all about...

And congratulations for your "Best Extra Large Flower" award! That's fantastic!

Thanks everyone.

Betty,
Yellow is 3rd
Red is second
Blue is first
Purple is Best (score of 95 or higher)
Then out of all the purples they pick the best purple in each section such as xtra large, large, small, mini, spider, uf, seedling, youth, and so on. Different clubs may have special sections as well like the best pink or best yellow. These go to the head table and out of these then the best in show is picked.
I will post some photos from today's show tomorrow. I am plum tired!!!

I was going to put this under a new post, being tink has already started I would like to say a few think about her and daylily shows. The Mobile show was Saturday and was her first show ever to enter. Not only did she have one on the front table but 3/4 of what she enter(about 25) scored 90 or better, I knew then I was going to have some competition after looking at some of the flowers she had groomed and entered in the show. Well comes Sunday and the Pensacola show, after the judging I am busy with a major show problem and paying no attention to what has made it to the head table, I don't notice that she has four on the head table and she being the lady she is doesn't bring this to my attention until after we have the show problem corrected which ends up with her and I tying for Best In Show. We only have one Best In Show Rosette, guess who got it'. Great job lady, no one could be more proud of you than I am.

Awwww Fred, I owe it all to you and Kathleen for all the help you've given me. Kathleen swears I don't pay attention, but I proved her wrong!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I'm one of those people that may stay in the background and observe for awhile, but when I decide I want to do something I go all the way. But again, I couldn't have done it without you and Kathleen. And let's not forget Kim. She really is a big help to me.

So if you want to start a thread with the show stuff I can just transfer my stuff over to it. I want to see some of your photos. Then other people can post to it if they enter any shows.

This is so fantastic! CONGRATS MICHELE! AND CONGRATS FRED! I love learning about the shows and the awards, and Michele -- I can't believe these were your first two shows! Thanks so much for sharing these pictures, and Fred -- I hope you will also post some when you have a moment. I think it really would be great to have a thread devoted to daylily shows.

After seeing these pictures, I want LILLIAN'S STOKE THE FIRE, LILLIAN'S BANGING MANGOS, and LILLIAN'S TEARS AND ROSES!

OK now for my question -- what is a Munson pattern? Because I really love the pattern on the daylily in the picture that won the award and would love to know what I'm looking at and/or for... Gee, here I am totally out of gardening space and now I'm planning/plotting to purchase new ones!
